Noticing a lot of pistol caliber carbines being sold

Made it a his, and hers day at the gun shop
She got the M&P Shield .380, and I got a Hi Point. I've already took the hideous fixed sights off, and dropped my Sightmark reflex sight on it.

I think it has to do with configuration. Watermonkey has built a 9mm AR carbine, and working on a second.

So what about the "featureless " grips. Where they basically make a pistol grip, that you can't get your thumb around? Those a no-no also?

There's no true guidance. Maybe. The thordsden stock isn't even guaranteed to be legal but appears to not be a pistol grip. No legal precedent and the law is very vague.

Even making it a "fixed" magazine rifle isn't very specific. Doesn't say permanent modification. So not sure if some devices used to make it fixed are good to go.

People are using best judgement and using good faith adherence to the law.

I went and looked at the Beretta website and it ONLY takes Beretta mags. The guy in the gun store may have brainfart-blurted "Glock" mags, hence my confusion. Or maybe I was thinking the KelTec carbine... The new Ruger carbine will take Glock mags if you change the adapter...

You never mentioned: are you 10rds max in the magazines?
Yeah, we’re limited to 10 rd mags. However, before you send me condolences...because of our @$$backwards laws and because it’s a pistol caliber that we’re allowed to have more than 5 rds in a semi-auto centerfire rifle....don’t ask why. It makes no sense to anyone with more than half a brain or without a socialist agenda.

The problem is most of us law abiding gun owners actually read the regs and do our best to try to make sense of it. But when the face palming and head banging start...it’s a just a lost cause.

Range report.....
Immediately removed the factory sights, and put my ole Sightmark on, went on with no issues. Put a new batt in the sight.

50 rounds, 1 FTE while the wife was shooting, it did half chamber the next round though.

The spring loaded, recoil reducing stock hangs up sometimes, and will pop out unexpectedly while your lining up a shot.

I can hit 4 inch round swingers, at 25 yards pretty regular if I slow fire. From standing freehand.

I will be feeding it 124 gr. NATO ammo exclusively. If it proves reliable in function I will keep a mag of 124 HST at the ready. And it will be a go-to, for the wife, for times I'm not home. The controls are simple enough, and she is comfortable with the recoil of the NATO ammo.

Looks like PSA is getting in on another 9mm pistol caliber.

For you scorpion owners, they use scorpion magazines and PSA is also releasing a 35 round scorpion magazine with metal feedlips that will be compatible with both of those guns. @nitesite did you hear that? 35 round scorpion magazines :)

Yes, the hi point made it on the most recent assault weapon list that Feinstein introduced. Despite that it was approved for sale DURING the clinton ban years and it has remained that way with no post ban design changes ever since.

If I were hi point, I would make every gun with a large drum magazine, threaded barrel, bayonet lug and everything else just out of spite because of that.

Can't own a Hi Point carbine in New York?! Even though they have only ten round magazines? Take care. Tom Worthington
Detachable mag and pistol grip to evil for the citizenship of NO YORK.

Ps the criminals can have anything they want cause they don't give a shit about the law.

Found this and thought some of you may find it handy. No idea what bullet weight. I suspect probably 115's because I tend to have more bullet drop from my 158's and 165's.

Yes pistol grip and detachable magazine PURE evil and terrifying to these weak-minded sheople in New York

You can't have a pistol grip but I'll bet it's not legal to cut the pistol grip off either is it?

Theoretically, here, if you had a pistol grip before the assault weapons registration law was passed then it must forever more have a pistol grip.

It's your typical catch-22. You can't have it but you can't remove it. It's illegal to modify an assault weapon to make it not an assault weapon.

All you can legally do is register it as an assault weapon, so later on they can come and take it away on some ex post facto charge.
