New guy from Florida - former Winchester Defender owner

New guy from Florida - former Winchester Defender owner

Just wanted to start out on the right foot with the obligatory first thread posted to the "New Members" forum group.

Used to own a Winchester Defender 1300 - 18.5" barrel, pistol grip. Shot it a lot in Oregon. Really like it. Was a solid shotgun and a good combo with my Colt AR15 and a couple of Makarovs to round out the collection. Sold all of them I when a job change took me to California. Haven't owned a shotgun since.

All hell breaks out across America so yeah back to my Boy Scout roots, getting prepared.

Bought the wife a Mossberg 590A1 Mariner and just obtained a Mossberg 590 Special Purpose Persuader for me. Added a few Glocks and a SIG to round out the home defense arsenal.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Welcome to the forum from Florida. (34683)
Congrats on your new Mossy's.

Was going to go with the Winchester Defender but a 590A1 came up for sale on Florida Gun Traders that included a link to a video by hickok45 - after watching the video and of course doing some more research, we decided to become Mossberg owners.

Nothing wrong with the Winchester but when Mossberg is good enough for our Military it's good enough for us.

Mine should be to our FFL this Friday. It's a New in Box model from 2000 - kind of feel like kid on Christmas morning when picking it up.

Next up is battle hardening our front door and installing motion sensors.

Wish things weren't like this, much prefer the days of Mayberry RFD when you could leave your front door unlocked.

Nothing wrong with Winchesters. Even older Remingtons are near bomb proof.

Please vote like a native Floridian... :)

I hope I fit in here with my voting record. I was for Pat Buchanan back in the 1991 Republican Primaries and in case anyone has forgotten - he promised to build a wall between the United States and Mexico if he were elected. Back then he was considered to be on the fringe by his own party.

I'm pro gun, pro America and pro Trump. I'm actually pro anyone that puts America first. I'm sick of the "good old boy club" in both parties but of the 2 parties, the Republican party at least has some real patriots in it. I can't say that for the Democrat party.

My concern now days is so many people moving to Florida from liberal democrat run cities and then voting for the same party that caused the problems they're escaping from.

That's insanity.

So Bobster - I hope I'm not disappointing you.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!

Happy to say my Mossberg arrived today. Here's some pictures.

Brand new in the box - circa 2000 - Mossberg 590 Special Purpose

My wife's 590 A1 with the Mariner finish and my 590 below it.

Pretty easy to see and also feel the thicker barrel wall for the 590 A1 as compared to the 590 Special Purpose.

Just the barrel ends...

Next up - installing the Knoxx Breachersgrip Gen III onto my 590

I'll take before, installation and after shots of the install if anyone is interested.

You say, "[pix]... if anyone is interested?"

You damn betcha. Interested is default around here when it comes to pix. Should be mandatory. Bring 'em on!
