Ammo for 930SPX break-in

cbshooter

.270 WIN
Hi to everyone. I am new to this forum and I would like to ask you all about ammo to break-in this gun. I have had only pumps in the past, not anything like the SPX. I really like the looks of this gun and wanted an auto for a HD and to shoot at the range. What I am looking for is info on the cheapest to use to do this, as well as not to kill my shoulder. Is there a specific velocity I need to stay above? I plan on shooting 150 rounds or so for the break in. I have read most of the info on cleaning and checking the correct fit of all the parts, as well as possible deburring the mag tube. I now live in San Diego and I am looking for a place to buy ammo. I went to Walmart but they no longer sell ammo here. I believe I can order it online but I will have to research doing so. Thank you in advance for any info you can share. CB

I broke my Mossberg 930 Autoloader in with a combination of birdshot and 00 buck but I will let others chime in as well. www.sgammo.com is where I typically order most of my ammo online.

For break in I would first use full power slugs and full power buckshot
After that I would switch to full power slugs and full power buckshot

Economical choice #1 http://www.sgammo.com/product/centurion ... h-1400-fps

Economical choice #2 http://www.sgammo.com/product/rio/50rd- ... t-9-pellet

As far as your shoulder……you got a 12 gauge…own it

Some low recoil choices. I like to think these are for quicker follow up shots instead of saving your shoulder

The more you shoot it the more your shoulder will get used to it. You could try a Limbsaver pad.

Ok so I ordered 200 rnds Centurion 1 1/8 oz slugs, 100 rnds Rio low recoil 00 buckshot 9 pellets, and 100 rnds Fed flight Control LE 13300 from AGammo.com for $220.00 delivered with insurance. I think this will give me an idea how these work in my new SPX. Thanks to you guys for your help. Clint

When I got my new 930spx home I stripped it and gave it a good cleaning. The next day I went out to the range and ran a box of Estate 1290 fps #8 through it. Then a box of Winchester 1200 fps #71/2. Then a mix of full power and low recoil slugs and 00buckshot. Everything ran perfect. The next time out was a local fun 3 gun match with the 1290 fps Estate and low recoil slugs. The gun ran perfect.

I bought a boatload of full-power 00 buck to break mine in. Unfortunately, I never could get it to run right. It's been at Mossberg for over a month-and-a-half now and they tell me it'll be another two weeks while they wait to source a barrel. :(

I think they're waiting for barrels to arrive from China.

Just bought this gun and Im waiting on my 10 days. I want to break this in correct. So I need to fire 00 Buck or Slugs around 10 rounds. Then I am free to fire Bird shot from Wal Mart as normal? I plan on mainly using the gun at the local in-door range and they only allow Bird Shots.

I've put about 1500-2000 rounds through mine with no issues. I just bought a ton of birdshot and burned a handful of buck and slugs only initially.
