How do you like the 2022? I've been quite interested in it but cannot find one to rent or borrow. Grip seemed a little fat at Gander but I held it once for 5 minutes lol

I have had my 2022 for about 5 years now. It is my favorite. It has different sized grips available.

I just read that today, that it has small and medium sized grips. I have a feeling they had the larger grips on the one I picked up because it was super fat in the hand. I also saw it has a threaded after market barrel and holsters are now plentiful for them too... not many used sales roaming my area though so it'd be new. How do you carry yours, if you do?

I don't carry the Sig due to the size. When I carry, it is the Springfield 3.3. The Sig stays close at home.
I am not surprised that you can't find one used. Most people that own a 2022 tend to keep them because they are such a value to begin with. If someone wanted to sell a pistol to get some cash, they wouldn't get much for the 2022 because they are so inexpensive new.
I like it because it just works. At least 4000 rounds without an FTF or FTE. Mine has the composite sights (snowman type) which took a bit to get used to, but they work well. Mec Gar makes a +2 magazine (17 rd) which works very well. I have a couple of them.

@Capman that's very true... I looked at the XDs and really like the 4.0 in 9mm... but for a minor width adjustment you could have the XD Service with twice the ammo. Then when you're talking service sized pistols, the sky is the limit haha

The XDs wins though if I consider "deep" conceal carry for when I run and go on walks. Hard to belly band a Glock 19 with all that ammo. :p

I sold my Glock 23 because it was too big and awkward. I ended up carrying it less than my 1911 which I preferred.

Imprint is everything to me. I am a "big" guy (means a bit of a fat a$$). It is tough for me to carry with little or no imprint. Especially in the summer. I figure a single stack is better than nothing.
When shopping, I held an XD and it felt really good. I am still getting used to the XDs as I have only owned it for a bit less than a year. The more I practice, the better I get with it. I guess that is true with any firearm.

My other toys... S&W 642 (no lock), Dan Wesson Classic Bobtail (AKA CBOB) and a couple I no longer have: S&W 638 and Springfield Milspec. Just ordered a Blue Colt Commander. I dig 1911s and S&W wheel guns, and in general old school, simple but effective guns, obviously. Much love for pump shotguns, with a huge bias towards Mossberg.

Smith & Wesson began experiments with .45 ACP-firing pistols in 1984, and produced their first one, the Model 645, in 1985. Public demand led to the development of this series. They are normally double-action weapons. They generally have a barrel bushing press fitted into the muzzle end of the slide instead of a separate barrel bushing like a 1911 pistol. Like many Smith & Wesson models, each variant was generally in production for only a few years.

The Model 645 was introduced in 1985, and produced until 1988. It has a stainless steel frame and slide, an ambidextrous safety/decocker, a squared trigger guard, and black plastic grip plates.

The Model 745, built from 1986-1990, was a single-action target version of the Model 645, with a match barrel, Novak sight (an adjustable rear sight was optional), an adjustable trigger stop, stainless frame, walnut grip panels and blued slide. It does not have ambidextrous controls, but does have a half-cock safety.

Smith & Wesson changed its numbering system with the introduction of its third generation iteration, where a four digit numeral replaced the earlier three digit numeral designators. One of the first in this series was the 4505; this is essentially the 645 with only the safety catch ambidextrous and a blued finish. It was produced only in 1991. The Smith & Wesson Model 4506, is made of satin finished stainless steel, a Novak Lo-Mount rear sight later in the series, and a Xenoy wrap-around grip with either a straight or arched backstrap. After 1998, the 4506 had a rounded trigger guard profile, which replaced the earlier squared profile inherited from the 645. The 4506 was produced from 1988-2001.

The S&W 645 was used in seasons 3 & 4 of the TV series Miami Vice by the character Detective Sonny Crockett played by Don Johnson ...

Man, I fondled one once and it was a handful! Completely different from a 1911. I remember when those came out and the press said that S&W had resisted the idea of making a pistol in .45ACP because it was a "Colt cartridge". This didn't stop them a few years later from jumping on the 1911 bandwagon like almost everyone else... ;)

The 2nd Generation Smith & Wesson 659 is a traditional double-action high-capacity 9x19mm caliber pistol. It's a stainless steel version of the blued, alloyed framed Smith & Wesson 459 and blue all-steel Smith & Wesson 559. Manufactured with both adjustable rear sights and fixed-sight. Early production models have a rounded trigger guard. Later models have the squared trigger guard (above). Replaced by Smith & Wesson's 3rd Generation stainless semi autos of the 5900 Series.

I carry an XDs in .45. Pretty damn accurate. 7 shot 15 yard group.

Finally got my Colt Commander. Wow. Very impressed: fit & finish are very good and it shot a little under 250 rounds of range reloads and +P hollow points without a hitch right out of the box (lubed liberally). Thoroughly cleaned it afterwards and put the medallion grips on for that classic look. I was leery of the series 80 safety as I'm not a fan of lawyer parts and extra stuff that can go wrong, but it doesn't seem to be an issue and hardly makes the take-down more of a pain. Great gun, especially for the price. Commander 1.JPGCommander 2.JPG

Thanks, guys. I hadn't touched a Colt in years and kept reading about sharp edges that will cut you or misaligned this & that. But mine has none of those shortcomings and just feels, shoots and looks so right. Very happy with this purchase (it was $730 on GrabAGun and even adding $150 in stupid taxes and fees, still a great deal to me).

This is my collection. Top is Hi Point 9 also my Jimenez JA Nine then on the ends are Glenfield/ Marlin mod 60. Across from it is my savage mod 1914 also in 22 lr. In the middle is my 930 with 24" rifled slug barrel, under that is a Remington 770 in 243, then a Savage 111 in 270.

The wifey wanted me to share HER gun on this thread too! = ) The Mossberg MMR Tactical. I was shocked when she asked me if she could get an AR15! NEVER hesitate on the rare opportunity when the wife ASKS for an AR (or any gun in general)!!!! ; ) We went out the next day and bought this one. I had been doing some research for quite some time and I read a lot of good things about the MMR, so we took a chance on it, paid $549+tax at our local gun shop, and it has been amazing! She added a red dot sight, green laser, flashlight and a vertical grip. She said it's "done" now, she doesn't want/need to add anything else. We have ran the cheap Tula steel cased ammo, brass PMC and the high-end Hornady stuff and it eats it all! No failures of any kind as of yet (600 rounds). It is dead on accurate too, I highly recommend this rifle to anyone who is looking/thinking about buying one. You will not be disappointed!!!
