Sharpen the swedge/false edge?

Hey y'all,
I have a Ka-Bar USN MKI, and I was wondering what y'all thought about sharpening the swedge or flase edge or whatever it's called. Do y'all think it'd ruin the integrity of the blade? It's not the sturdiest of knives, the tang is kinda weak.
Should I or shouldn't I?
