YEP THE POLITIANS ARE AT IT AGAIN THEY WANT TO INTRODUCE A 50% ON AMMO TAX THEY THINK THIS WILL STOP CRIME ALWAYS GOING AFTER THE GOOD GUYS AND GALS DON'T KNOW IF THEY CAN PULL THIS OFF BUT JUST IN CASE IAM TRYING TO STOCK UP ON AMMO SOME WHAT IF YOU'VE HEARD THIS AS WELL POST UP YOUR THOUGHTS I CAN'T BELIEVE THESE JERKS ARE RUNNING THIS COUNTRY BUT THEY DO HAVE THERE FOLLOWERS
 
They always ignore that criminals often steal their guns and ammo, so the tax isn't going to raise their overhead for the price of making meth and crack anytime soon.

I hope you can see the sarcasm in my reply.

A Democratic Connecticut state legislator introduced a bill on Monday that would raise the tax on ammunition in the state by 50 percent, prompting an immediate condemnation by the National Rifle Association (NRA) and concerns from legal observers that the legislation would be unconstitutional.

In a video uploaded to Twitter, Rep. Jillian Gilchrest, a freshman legislator from Hartford, said that a companion bill was being introduced in the state Senate by fellow freshman Democrat Will Haskell. (Haskell, at age 22, became Connecticut's youngest-ever elected legislator last year.)

"Currently, ammunition is taxed at the same rate as other products, but we want to increase it by 50 percent, because we see it as a prevention measure," Gilchrest says in the video. "For example, if someone were to buy a 50 cartridge box of ammunition, which goes for about $10, it would increase the price to $15."

Gilchrest goes on to explain that military and law enforcement members would be exempted from the tax, although those exemptions do not appear in an initial draft of the bill posted to the Connecticut state legislature's website.

I read an article that said they will have Constitutional grounds to fight this. SCOTUS rulings are already out there that the government can't target a specific right with a tax. They can get away with the sales tax as that covers everything.

Her twitter post shows how clueless she really is..."she is getting push back on the bill about the need to protect one's home. She asked, “how much ammunition does someone really need to do that?”" These elitists have no clue that people actually would target shoot for enjoyment or in competition.

It probably won't go anywhere but it shows that incoming rookie socialist/communist/democrats know that if they want to get free publicity from the "media" just try and come up with new and outrageous attacks on gun owners.

Imagine if it were proposed to set a 5-cent tax PER ROUND on ammo, which has been discussed in some legislatures.

I just bought 4,800 rounds of .22LR on just one order.

That would have been $240 in tax!!!!!
 
Yes sir nightsite i just purchased 1575 22 lr and 500 44 specials and i hear you on what the tax would be i imagine if they get away with this down the line threw some loop hole at leaset ill be stocked up a little

wow unreal fortuneatly Arizona is still the west and open carry is legal as well as conceal i just saw on the news this am Los Angelys is now a sanctuary city these people in Washington are ruening this country

Maybe if we read the fine print "sanctuary" will apply to those that want to carry weapons in LA contrary to the stupid laws. [Just dreaming...]

I don't think this has to do with stopping crime, IMHO. This about disarming the populace so they can have complete control. Then they will take over corporations, control the food supply, and determine who lives or dies determined by ability to work for the central government. We, our kids and grandkids, could live in a place like the 1950s Russia or China or modern day North Korea.

The truely sad thing is that so many of those very kids and grandkids have been indoctrinated to believe that is the way things should be and that they will live in a better world where everything is free and everyone will be happy and carefree with nary a trouble.
