A real target hit with a real gun !!

Did the Yamamoto sink from naval gunfire or dive bomber/torpedoes?
Yes, the Yamato was sunk in action in WWII. It went down in 1945 with almost 2700 sailors. The picture that Djcala was so nice to post is from a Japanese Yamato class battleship. Perhaps it was a captured ship at the end of the war that was used for target practice?
 
Wow, think about what it takes to punch a hole through 26 inches of steel. That a lot of energy. Enough to throw a shell that weighed as much as a small car 20 miles downrange.

Man, those sailors that worked in the gun turrets were a special breed. Talk about a dangerous environment. Noisy, hot, shaking violently, and all of that powder. Then there was all of the machinery moving around. No OSHA to worry about either.
