Outdoor cooking for everyone, post away your outdoor dishes.

Bacon for breakfast, and dinner. Whole chicken, stuffed with red potatoes, carrot, and onion, rubbed with olive oil, and seasoned. Some chicken seasoning I found in the cabinet. And some extra onion I threw on top

Cheated tonight, but the wife found this grill thing at goodwill a couple years ago. First time I've actually got it out of the box. I've been using the cook surface for my campfire cooking though

Couple of the kids wanted to camp out sat night, so we made dinner on the fire. Nothing fancy, just brats and burgers. The 2y.o, and 8 y.o. slept in the tent no problems. Temp was down in the 50's im guessing. I made them each a bedroll with a fleece blanket inner, and wool blend blanket outer. I was awake to hear a group or young coyotes howling about 2 a.m. sounded like they may have been in the cornfield across the road. Im guessing within a half mile.

Took a bucket list trip with army bro this summer, canoe journey down the lower section of Mississippi River camped on remote islands along the way. One night we had a treat pure Buffalo burgers riverside it was amazing. We've talked of doing this since the mid 80's , lucky it came to pass. 0830191634a_HDR.jpg 0830191648_HDR.jpg

I haven't been in a canoe since 1974.

Or a kayak.

Just powerboats and sailboats.

I kinda forgot what it was like.

With proper company id highly recommend it, we met 30 yrs ago in the Green Hell, we discussed this adventure way back then. He did a 20 yr career as a Ranger then a deputy finally retired and we did it. The Mississippi is NOT a float its work and we embraced every mile , there was 4 days not a single human encounter except a passing ship perhaps had a person inside ??? Several have expressed interest in a trip next year, I will go again 2020, applications being accepted for those interested just ask.0829191411_HDR.jpg 0831190616_HDR.jpg

That sounds like a great trip, a friend and i were just talking of doing something similar on one of the small rivers here near us. Did you take all raw food? Or some of the just add water backpacking meals? Looks like you had a pretty good load out in the canoe.

Big ole pan of beenie weenies, and my first trying cornbread in the dutch oven. I learned i had a few to many coals on the bottom side, but otherwise turned out great.
