safety replacement question

hey all,

I just replaced the stock safety button on my 500 with the Brownells heat treated steel button.

When it is in the "fire" position, you can push the rear of the button down maybe .040-.050", almost like the button isn't seated all the way. The detent spring seems to push the button up and it pivots on the screw.

The screw is threaded all the way in, I have taken it apart a couple of times and everything looks as it should based on what I have researched. The ball and spring are in the right place. When in the "fire" position, the detent ball is visible under the rear of the button.

Am I just a worry wart or did I do something wrong? The gun cycles properly and the safety works. edit: and yes, I did reuse the stock detent shim.

That's the technique I used when I recently installed my Brownells safety on my 500. It was pretty easy to unscrew the screw, I didn't have tap to tap it with a hammer or even use much force. Mine stays nice and seated when moving from safe to fire and back.

Are you sure you have the shim in the correct orientation?

I would also recommend using a dab oh blue loctite on the screw do it doesn't back out or loosen from recoil and such.
