It must be DC fairyland time. The House didn't even vote on it yet but that seems ok to all. Much like what they spoon feed us peons the deadline must be BS.

I'm not having much luck finding out what they actually voted for other than milk won't be going up to $8 per gallon and some tax increases/spending cuts are delayed. Sounds like they just pushed it down the road again. Time will tell.

If the middle class ever got together and voted that way it seems that nothing could stop them as a 3rd party. Unfortunately the dems/repubs have the sheeple trained to vote for special interest items like abortion, enviroment, gay marriage, war on women, class warfare etc instead of voting for their wallets and future. The media lackies have done a great job keeping these items #1 with voters. People vote their pet interest while our wealth is plundered.

That would be cool.....

I hear ya. A tax increase hit would hurt a lot of good folks that are stretched thin already. That's one of the many reasons I was for more in spending cuts. It looks like the the tax and spend dems won the battle. I just found this:

According to the Congressional Budget Office, the last-minute fiscal cliff deal reached by congressional leaders and President Barack Obama cuts only $15 billion in spending while increasing tax revenues by $620 billion—a 41:1 ratio of tax increases to spending cuts.

Please note that when DC says they cut spending 15 billion that usually means that spending was going to go up 100 billion and they cut 15 billion so it only goes up 85 billion.

I have been in a pay freeze for 5 years and been taking one furlough day a month for the last three years....
I make less money now than I did 5 years ago ....keep putting out forest fires for rock bottom prices though…..in charge of a couple hundred souls and millions in equipment.....I am tired of doing my part.
I don’t want a whole lot more, I just want to get a out of the pay freeze and out of furlough days. I have been giving in the form of a substantial pay cut for 5 years....I can’t give too much more

You're going to end up footing the bill. A lot of small and medium sized business owners are these "rich" the Democrats want to steal from and in order to make a profit and stay afloat, they're going to pass their new tax burden on to you in some way, shape, or form. It's like the wisdom of jacking up the price of diesel (which is relatively cheap to make) and subsidizing the bio-fuels (which are more expensive to make). We end up paying for the more expensive diesel because the cost of shipping gets jacked up to offset the inflated price and that has to be made up somewhere by businesses that have to ship things in.

It’s the circle of life, still better than me losing money straight off my check.....small business owners will go under to big business owners if they aren’t careful, because one thing that still works in our country is the choice to use a small business or a big heartless business.
I like small business, but I am not going poor just because I want to support small business. In this day and age I have to be defensive jerk and it’s about to come down to survival. It is a crappy attitude but the truth is better them then me at this point, lesser of two evils, survival of the fittest, the needs of the many outweighs the needs of the few…….whatever one likes to call it.
At this particular point in my life if ma and pa are selling a gallon of gas for .50 more than Costco……I am going to Costco. If the barber shop charges 20 bucks for a haircut, I take that 20 bucks and buy clippers from WalMart.
Sucks because millionaires should be able to keep all their money too, but truth is at this point in most Americans lives, the millionaires can take the hit and keep living fine, maybe not what they are used to but hey, join the rest of the country……..Arod was bitching about having to pay over a million in taxes if this all goes. He makes 30 mill….pay up. If you made 30 Thousand and the Government only wanted a touch over one thousand you would be thrilled…..percentage wise he should pay more, we do.

I went through the pay freeze crap from 2000 to 2006. 2006 was my 20th year there and I gave notice 3 days before receiving an invitation to a dinner for the "20 year club members". The pay freeze is actually a yearly pay cut since the cost of living goes up. After 6 years I finally had to leave for more money elsewhere even though the work is worse and not as secure. They went a total of 10 years before giving a token 1% raise and the comapny went from 75 employees to about 30. I have had occasional years since then with no increase. My family has a much harder time making ends meet now than 15 years ago.

Going after the rich to pay their fair share is fine with me but as Margaret Thatcher noted on socialism:
"The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money to spend."
The rich are already moving assets offshore.

I want a flat tax, or even a sales tax like in Canada.
I woudn't look for a sales tax because people stop spending when things are tight and they want to make sure the money keeps rolling in.

I'd be upset, but honestly, this is what I have come to expect. They are in charge of doing what is best for everyone. Obviously, they are too incompetent to do that.
I feel Im in a small group. the fiscal cliff is going to cost me money and its money that I would rather spend than have taken from me to redistribute. but that money really isn't gonna make much difference in my lifestyle. I would rather they cut back on the redistribution and entitlements than take more money from me, but arguing with congress is like arguing with an idiot on the internet. they are just gonna drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Things just don't change in DC. The dirty rats made sure to keep the special interests happy!:

The "fiscal cliff" deal reached by the Senate and the White House on New Year's Eve, and passed in legislative form by the Senate early New Year's Day, includes many giveaways to special interests--including an extension of a perk enjoyed by "motorsports entertainment complexes" otherwise known as the "NASCAR tax credit."
The provision, under section 168(i)(15) of the federal tax code, allows speedways to write off their costs over seven years. Typically, such expensing occurs over a much longer period of time, from 15 to 39 years. The cost of the NASCAR tax credit to taxpayers has been estimated at some $40 million--over and above any tax incentives provided by state and local authorities.
Hollywood films also enjoy a tax incentive extension in the "fiscal cliff" deal. The 157-page bill may grow yet larger--and more lucrative for special interests--as the House adds amendments.

I can certainly attest that I've never had that problem or even been accused of that one LOL

But sadly, money is an unwritten requirement

the most frustrating part is being in middle america where "we" get out voted from the population centers, then taxed to cover the costs for their hand outs.
Our system has some fundamental flaws. one being that the last few presidential races have come down to a couple states making the decision. Too much federal power, not enough of letting states run what their people want. I don't live in a population center, I dont want to be governed like I do.

That was so good that I had to check it with snopes. I didn't come up with anything.

Edit - I did find something under snopes what I googled it differently. They rate it partially true because some of the assertations can't be confirmed. Of course snopes is as liberal as they come too.

it was an e mail I got, dont know if its 100% true but alot is .....funny anyway

I'm with y'all on the stupid bogus fiscal cliff. Taxes went up on everyone, the new 2% payroll tax, taxes on the industries and corporations and wealthy are passed on to evryone else, we've got the new medical excise tax and in the meantime exemptions were carved out for some like large contributors to the administration and other elected officials. Hollywood received a huge exemption while other companies were given the ok to shelter earnings and capital gains in off shore accounts. Does that sound familiar? I don't know if I said all that correctly...

I don't like any of em either, they're all a bunch of crooks and cheats and career politicians, I'm rather thoroughly disgusted with them all, its time for a changing of the guard.
