    New scope. Newbie Parallax question

Hey gents. I just got a 4-16x scope that allows to adjust the parallax. So the the manual states, “Parallax compensation changes neither the focus of the reticle nor the focus of the image; it simply moves the planes at which these two objects are in focus so that they share the same plane. Look...

About where would this hit at 200 yds?

This is a 50 yd zero aiming for the bull at 102 yds. Will it still be climbing out to around 200 or will it have started to drop? Basically, if I would have held dead center at 200 do y’all think I would’ve missed the paper high? 5.56x45 75gr Hornady bthp form a 16” barrel. I think they do...

    IWB Holster Help

Is there such an animal as an in the waist holster that isn’t a pain to wear when in a car? This is what I’m currently using and I can’t really have the gun in it while I’m driving and I can’t really put the gun in it unless I get out of the car. It rides in the 3:00-4:00 position which is good...

Krylon, or Hi-Temp Grill Paint, or coated w/RIG?

Wipe it down w non-acetone nail polish remover or the likes before spraying painting. My shotgun paint job is going on three years now. No peel, no flake. Sprayed right on top of the bluing. I’m trying to insert the link to the forum post where I painted it but it keeps showing up as a dude...

Krylon, or Hi-Temp Grill Paint, or coated w/RIG?

High heat spray paint works. It doesn’t have to be 1k degree header or grill paint. The not quite as high heat auto “intake manifold” spray paint works also and it’s offered in more colors. The receiver on the shotgun is spray painted as is the barrel on the AR. They have a couple coats of...

Ez Mil Spec AR Trigger Job

Home AR trigger job Items needed: 1k, 1500, 2k, 2500, & 3k grit sandpaper. You can find it at auto parts stores. You will also want a polishing compound such as Brasso. Start w/ 1k grit & sand until you don’t think it is getting any smoother. Keep the piece you are working lubed w Brasso...

Or how about…… Car wax! :) It “shines & protects,” it helps a little w/ finger prints & dust, but best of all, (hunters this is you) water will bead right off. Get caught in a small shower bro-in-law is all wigging out worrying about rust. But not you, you waxed your gun. ;) I think it...

MAC Military Arms Channel says that shotguns suck for defense <vid>

My vote for home use is for the shotgun hands down. You’re asleep and it’s dark and you’re probably not going to have time to turn on your red dot. It’s always a good idea to practice, but a newbie can generally hit a stationary target the first rattle out of the box with a shotgun. A pistol...

    Hornady 75gr 5.56x45 BTHP “test”

I was able to get the range to get it zeroed at a distance and I believe I have it dialed in good enough for hunting etc. I think my scope mount woes are solved. Blue Loctite. It was a windy day so it made it tough, and I don’t have a vice and I couldn’t use my bags b/c the stupid “range...

    Ammo available in your area.

Good ole Walmart. I wish they still sold pistol and .223/5.56x45. I’ve shot a butt-load of Winchester “white box” .40 and Walmart was always the go-to place. It was something like $50 for a 250 rd box.

Or how about 3 in 1 RV slide-out spray for a general purpose lube. It works well and it’s good on metal, rubber and plastic. $6 for 12 oz vs $11 for 5 oz of Horandy One Shot...

Here’s a product that is marketed for one thing, but is good at another. How does it relate to the forum section? I figured there’d be a lot of lube type stuff going around (that’s what she said). What y’all got?

    Hornady 75gr 5.56x45 BTHP “test”

Ha I know, it’s just a curiosity thing, not to get too scientific. Mainly curious/hopeful if that bullet will be a winner or a zonk out at a distance. It flies well, I just hope it’ll do sum damage and not “ice pick” on through medium sized stuff. When in doubt, ear-hole em I guess.
