464 22lr first session at the range

Aquila

.22LR
Hubby, son and I tried 'er out for the first time. Operation felt nice and smooth and it was a pleasure to shoot.

And Wolf ammo is weirdly greasy! Federal isn't.

There was one interesting issue: a couple of the rounds failed to fire. The pin made a dent in the rim, it just didn't go off. When we ejected those we set them aside. After finishing the magazine, we put them in one at a time and they fired correctly.

What causes this?

I probably get 1% failure rate on bulk
.22 ammo. I haven't shot Wolf though.

This is across all 6 of the .22 rifles & one .22 pistol which I own.

I have a new semi-auto Marlin .22 I have not yet shot yet, but I expect the same result.

I've been shooting Federal, Remington & Winchester bulk bullets. I've also shot CCI, Geco, Aguila, Remington Ely match, Federal match, and other match grade ammo which has had zero failures.

CCIs alwsys feel greasy. Most ammo comes very dry.

Even with the the occasional failure to fire, the rifle is incredibly sweet. Hubby and son loved it.

I also did not notice in the fun shop that the wood has a beautiful rippled shine to it.

Hubby's already talking about shooting dates. :)
