The San Francisco 49ers pledged $500,000 Thursday to secure a suppressor ban and other gun controls.

The push comes in the weeks after the Las Vegas attack. Suppressors were not used in that attack, but the 49ers are dedicated to banning the devices anyway.
According to ESPN, the 49ers presented the gun control pledge as part of creating a “more understanding and safer America.” The $500,000 will also be used to push a ban on bump stocks and armor-piercing bullets.
The ban on armor-piercing bullets is somewhat ambiguous, but appears similar to a ban which was unsuccessfully pushed by the Obama administration in 2015. The Obama-era actually targeted bullets that would have to be re-categorized as armor piercing in order to be banned.
On February 15, 2015, Breitbart News reported that the Obama-era push was directed toward M855 rounds for the AR-15. The rounds are fully legal under the auspices of the Gun Control Act of 1968, which bans handgun ammunition categorized as armor piercing. The Obama ATF attempted to apply the ban on handgun ammo to rifle ammo as well, even though the M855 round was one of the most popular AR-15 rounds for sporting purposes at the time. And it was precisely because of the round’s popularity that the NRA-ILA described the attempted ban as “a move clearly intended by the Obama administration to repress the acquisition, ownership, and use of AR-15s and other .223 caliber general purpose rifles.”
It appears the 49ers are ready to pick up where Obama left off, and they are joined by the Los Angeles Police Protective League, an LAPD union, in so doing. On October 26 Breitbart News reported that the Los Angeles Police Protective League is pushing for a ban on suppressors, armor-piercing ammunition, and bump stocks.
Suppressors are legal in over 40 states and are widely owned. Legislation to loosen the cumbersome acquisition process for the devices was shelved by House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.) two days after the Las Vegas attack, which happened to be one day after Hillary Clinton criticized suppressors.

Ugh.

I’m going to go out on a limb and guess that most of the players for the 49ers would love to own/shoot suppressors.

Hypocrites gotta hypocrite.

I really don't like the NFL anymore. The NFL seems to think the same way as the democrat party...they don't understand that half of the country finds their politics offensive. I don't want politics in my Sunday night entertainment and that includes discussions about kneeling players, Bob Costas lecturing gun owners or the 49ers using a tragedy to push against guns. I think this is happening because they are all located in big cities that have been run into the ground by democrats. My watching the NFL was already half of what is once was and this year I'm finding better things to do. I'm not the only one. ESPN lost 15,000 subscribers per day in October and 13 million over the last 6 years.

The one thing the American public has control of is the money they spend with the NFL, either at the stadium or TV. I can find better things to do than sit in front of TV and watch a bunch of overpaid activists protesting, then trying to convince me that I am wrong because I don't agree with them. It is not up to the players, coaches, or owners to tell me how I should think, or spend my money.

Tomorrow is supposed to be a nice day here so I am going to put a pistol or two in my saddlebags and take a motorcycle ride to a spot where I can do some shooting. They might protest, but I won't be seeing it. I'll be entertaining myself .

I haven't been a fan of football since the day they told me I wasn't good enough to be on the team anymore.

They were right too. . . my eyesight sucks.

But because my eyesight sucks I am not a good spectator, and I simply cannot sit around and watch other people enjoying themselves for 3 hours.

The same idiots that think America sucks because it's too hard to become a millionaire would be the first ones to complain, if we just gave everybody the same money that they work so hard to get.

I very much enjoy both high school and college football. In fact i have season tickets at U of A . I enjoy the atmosphere at the highschool games on nice friday night and the passion for the game and supporting the local kids. The gathering of good folks up in Tuscaloosa on Saturday is beyond description just cant explain it. As for the NFL i havent seen a game in maybe 5 years zero interest in the product they producing. I did enjoy the old days of the NFl with the likes of Tom Landry on the sideline and Roger the dodger slinging the ball. But the NFL like Nascar morphed into something i have no use for at all.

. . . NFL like Nascar morphed into something i have no use for at all.

I only get to see NASCAR very infrequently so I still enjoy it.

The fact that it's not "real" doesn't decrease the spectacle of it all.

nascar is its' own worst enemy.

Have you seen the empty stands the last few years?

Yeah, piss off your fan base.

What could possibly go wrong?

nascar hasn't been the same since friggin' restrictor plates.

Yeah well I understand in a way.

If they take off the restrictor plates, the super oval's not big enough. You either have to make it larger or everything turns into a drag race.

If I could go back to the past, I would like to sit next to Smokey and watch him set up the valves on a 1954 Hudson Hornet. I've set up the valves on a flathead 6 and there's a finesse in doing it which is almost indescribable.
