930 JM Pro LOP reduction

Did a quick forum search for the answer, however did not find much. I'm sure it's there, I just didn't see it.

Any suggestions on reducing the LOP on the 930 JM Pro to 12.5-13 inches?

Not sure but...
Maybe you can cut down the buttstock, return spring and springtube (new threading) AND use the OR3GUN ASR (Adjustable Spring Retainer)?
NOTICE... I'm not a professional gunsmith... so don't try it without a second and pro-opinion ;-)

Mesa Tactical developed their "Urbino" stock with a 12.5" LOP...

Theirs is the only production replacement option out there. Any other option would require major modification of the gas system as posted above...

No joy there, the grip is fixed.

There are several members here that have this stock and several more that have expressed the same wish that it came in a more traditional profile. Post #529 in the thread below shows a close-up shot of the grip...

I'm one of them who would have got one but didn't want a pistol grip... too damn bad they decided NOT to offer a more traditional stock with a comb raiser. Too late now I've sold my 930 to a friend of mine to offset some of the costs of my OU purchase earlier this year.

Already having seller's remorse.

You can fairly easily take about 1/2" total off of the LOP using a belt sander on each end of the stock and a few minor tweaks (including a shorter stock nut spacer).

As Waitster & Lazy Eyed Sniper indicated, to go more than that you are going to have to change internals of the recoil assembly, thread the recoil tube a bit further, cut a bit of it off, drill a new set of spring retainer pin holes and acquire a different recoil pad that can be modified for the task. If Mesa would sell you the recoil tube separate from the stock it could be made to work with our CDA using some precision Dremel work to the inside of a Mossberg polymer stock. That tube work being done for you would go a LONG way toward making the project feasible.

We're working on Part 2 of a 3 Part fitment series on our YouTube channel that will go into the simpler levels of LOP and Pitch adjustment. Again, about 1/2" can be done quite simply, but the rest is going to be tedious and expensive. It CAN be done, but exploring some technique changes and other adjustments in the gun may be a better long term plan.

Late addition to your question. I believe Mesa will sell their shortened tube and spring separately. From there, you'll want some bedding compound/Acraglas from Midway or Brownells, and a miter box & saw. here's a link to a similar chop I did on a M2000. (page 2) http://forums.benelliusa.com/showthread.php/24972-M2000-Modifications-Tech-amp-Pics/page2

I suspect your challenge will be making the seating block, where the stock nut tightens down. You'll probably want to use the mounting bracket (from inside the stock) that's been cut off. You'll have to work out how to best relocate that in the shorter stock body, and secure with the bedding compound. I would probably be inclined to use dome-head or flush-head allen bolts from the outside of the stock into the new bedding/mounting block.
