California Bails on the System

This has been in the news for a while but I did not really expect it to be signed into law. Now, " rich and poor alike are treated fairly." According to Governor Brown.

I say, Bullcookies!

But to know what this is really about you have to follow the money.

California jails are overflowing with homeless drug addicts and Petty criminals who are illegal aliens. None of these people have the money to pay bail so they lie in jail and we feed them bologna and stale bread. Basically our County jails and city jails have turned into homeless hostels.

It was breaking the budget and so they've decided they're just going to kick everybody out who is not a violent criminal, sex offender, reprobate or serial drunk driver.

Of course this comes with a cost, because now there will be new administrative offices to interview and rate criminals before they are released or retained. That's going to cost almost as much as building more jails.

And those jobs will be funded by the state and go on forever. They will build more offices instead of jails.

Right away of course some petty thief will be released on his own recognizance into society, with no money and no job, and he will kill an innocent citizen in some Half Baked robbery.

At that point the lawsuits will start and the state of California will wish that they had kept the bail system in place rather than getting sued for every malevolent person who runs free when they should not.
