Duck plug?

Towerjockey

I need to know the proper procedure to remove the duck plug from my Mossberg 535.
I have tried removing the barrel and shaking the receiver hoping the dowel would all out with no results. I also tried to unscrew the magazine tube from the receiver no luck three either. I tried looking down the magazine tube an saw nothing but a spring, but still can only load one 2-3/4" in the chamber and 2 x 2-3/4" shells in the magazine. Please advise as to proper pop roper procedure for removing the duck plug.

Thank you

The normal procedure is as follows:

1. Make sure your weapon is clear and unloaded.
2. Check twice
3. Unscrew the barrel retainer on the end of the magazine.
4. Remove said barrel.
5. Point firearm down and shake vigorously.
6. The wooden dowel should start to come out of the threaded hole that the barrel retainer screws into.

Mine was alittle hard to come out at first too. The o-rings would get hung up on the spring in the mag tube. I would point the gun down then up a couple times then shake it good and it eventually would pop right out.
