Elderly father wants to carry

I'm kidding around here... :) I KNOW the AR is certainly capable for personal defense--fill it with blanks and the flash and concussion will give a home invader a heart attack! :D ;)

I think Red would find a 500 Youth 20ga to be the gun he is looking for... Although he DID ask about a handgun...

If he is not going to be trusted to function well with a true firearm, consider a TASER Pulse

Good stuff.

But if he can actually cope with a firearm...

Maybe a North American Arms will satisfy his itch without being too dangerous in the neighborhood

or a Taurus light polymer .38-Special (which will at least retain its usefulness later on)

I think the taser is very good advice, Niteside.

I think I've said it before, but his hearing is the main issue.

The TASER might allow him a feeling of empowerment against encroaching threats that he perceives. He just can't practice with it.

Think about it, my friend. It may just be the answer you are seeking.

He is 81, but very physically fit. But let me put it this way: I won't ride in a car while he is driving.
Mom is 80, I actually trust her more with a shotgun:)

Well I'm glad he isn't 65 and called "elderly" :) . Gets me when I see "An elderly man/ woman fights off intruder" and you find out the "elderly man / woman " is 65
Norm

Norm, is it OK to say "elderly" if you're 115? :)
