extreme shock ammo

Nope, haven't shot it. Have absolutely no interest in it.
I've never seen anything from Extreme Shock that has stood up to independant testing. By that I mean that people who get paid to study terminal ballistics have yet to be impressed with anything they've put out. They have been long on hype and short on doing what they say they do.
I am not aware of any departments of note that have used/issued them.
As far as the shotgun load you linked to, sorry but I have no faith in frangible ammunition. Frangible ammunition does not do well in terms of terminal ballistics. Beyond that, shooting projos with literally the aerodynamics of a soup can isn't going to yield itself to good patterns.

Uhh, yeah I'm inclined to agree with this. Regardless of having tested for myself. A spherical object is aerodynamically superior to a flat surface. This kinda ties into other discussion (and I dont intend to derail this topic) however, this is the reasoning for plated shot to prevent deformation and yeild truer flight and tighter groups and on top of that as I have recently learned, the reasoning behind lengthening the forcing cone to ease the transition of the shot from the chamber to the muzzle.

Allright thanks for helping me save some money, any thoughts on the 45 acp of extreme shock?

Buy a good defensive load from a reputable manufacturer if you want good defensive ammunition.

+1 to that

For 12 gauge, use #1B or larger in a 2.75" load. Hardened, plated, buffered shot will reduce deformation in the bore which will provided better and more consistent patterning. Hardened and plated shot will also retain spherical shape better, which will provide better penetration. If you want the tightest patterns then get the Federal FC load or use the Hornady TAP loads with Versatite. #4B is marginal and may not have enough individual mass for reliable, deep penetration or ability to bust through heavy structures. #1B does, as do the larger and heavier projos. Fed is supposed to be coming out with a #1B FC load soon, and when they do I will do the happy dance.
