The scene needs to be well lit, but without lights that reflect.

You want maximum diffusion.

A white paper diffuser on the lights will help a lot.

I have a light box, I was just too lazy to set it up...

By the way it looks great.
Did you make a special punch to cut the hexes?

x-acto knife and the nut. I tightened it up to make a dent/impression in the wood then cut that out.

Started filing the edges of one side. Still needs some fine tuning on the lines, but this one side is almost ready for a good truoil coating....

It's Arizona desert ironwood. Stinks to heaven when cut, but looks perty when finished....

I started another desert ironwood handle. This one is a double edged kabar. Old school...it had white plastic handle on it.
