Is ammo coming back???

Whew! It's been too long since I stopped by the forums to chat...

Walmart is absolutely bare but I swung BY!!!!! Dicks, I know I am a traitor for stopping there, but they do have A TON on .223/5.56, .45acp and some 9mm. Their prices are through the roof which would explain their strange stock amounts though.

20 rounds of PMC .223 is $17.99 and 50 rounds of Blazer Brass .45 is $34.99........ 9mm was all over the place for 50 rounds.

Gander has SOME stuff left, none of my glorious 200 round pack I was wanting to get... surprise.

I stopped by Cabela's in Tulalip, WA yesterday and they had 20 round boxes of Federal Lake City 5.56 XM193 for $9.99 per box.

Academy had eight boxes of Winchester Q3130 7.62x51 MilSpec 147 FMJ for $19.99/20 when I stopped in yesterday. At least they had it!

Picked up my orders from cabelas yesterday.

...how do you even place a backorder with cabelas? I don't ever see it available until it's in then it's gone right away.

No back orders...heres my chart look at it early in the morn noon and evening....pick up ammo all day long, and have it shipped to the store for free. Son just ordered some 525 pack of gonden ammo rem. After the order in the picture I now have another 9 orders of ammo to pick up.

The Wally Worlds in Vegas have been hit or miss. Some of our LGS have been able to get and keep ammo in, and they haven't raised their prices too much. Over the last few months I've been able to gather up a pretty good stock pile of the various calibers I shoot and everytime I go by Wally World I always stop by the ammo counter. The bid problem here is we still have people that buy all they can get just to turn around and sell it. The gun shows haven't been much better. The last one I went to they advertised two truck loads of ammo. When we got there, 2 hours early mind you, most all of the people in line for ammo were wearing vendor badges. They bought all they could, walked in the door, and stocked their tables. I was fumin when I saw this, to the point I found one of the show coordinators and let him know what I thought of this. Soon there a bunch of us expressing our feelings and soon after that the line was shorter because he called security and we were all escorted off the property.

^ Really sucks they treated you like that.

Stopped in the local Academy this evening and the shelves were packed with a variety of .223/5.56 ammo. Bunch of different brands too with no purchase limits. In fact, the only ammo they're limiting now is 9mm and .22lr (< they had none). Bought a hundred rounds each .223 and 5.56 for the range tomorrow. Kinda nice to head out shooting without having to worry about whether or not I'll be able to replace the ammo...

Good for you LES getting out to shoot. How big is you arm built up now from pulling that bow back?

Been outta the loop for a while. Probably noticed I went quiet on the forums in general. Anyhow since I was pretty decently stocked up I hadn't a need to hit up anywhere trying to find ammo. Plus the South Texas heat in the month called hell umm I mean August sort of made me take a break. Just didn't relish being at the range in 100+ degrees.

Now that its nearing Sept and the weather is going to start turning nice again soon I figured I'd start bulking up again to be prepared.

Holy moly, Academy near near me had a boat ton of just about everything with the exception of 9mm and .22lr and apparently being outta the loop I didn't know thats all they are still limiting. It was nice to have the option to buy as much as I wanted right off the shelves with no assistance from anyone in just about all calibers. I saw M855 and bought a ton of it. I intend to pickup an AR again here real soon as it appears the panic days are basically over. I've seen the price on a few I've been eyeballing recently get dropped.

That Academy had plenty of the XM193 stuff as well in addition run of mill .223 but I haven't seen the green tipped stuff in quite a while. Now if I can just one day manage to score some of the newer enhanced M855 lol. I'll take what I can get. Got some .45 as well today. Can't let the cobwebs gather too much ;) It begs to be shot.

Its just nice to see well stocked shelves and you're right les, not have to worry about quickly replenishing what you send downrange. With that in mind and cooler weather approaching time to get back out to the range again.

My Walmart is a joke, went there yesterday and the shelves are still bare. Today I went to Academy and they have a few boxes of 9mm in the front. The clerk saw me looking and asked if she can help me. I told her I'm looking for 40sw and she said they're on the shelves at the ammo section. She also said there won't be any ammo in front anymore so I'd have to go back there. I said that's ok with a big smile on my face.

I went back there and yep, plenty of ammo in various calipers but the only 40sw hollow points were the Federal Hydra-Shok in 25 round boxes. $27, Nope not interested. I looked around and spotted a Speers Lawman 40sw 180 in 50 round boxes. $20, that I bought, one. I've been wanting to try a box of Lawman for quite a while since they're as hot as their hollow points but in TMJ instead.

Good enough for me. :)

Yo JG, just saw your post after I submitted mine. Long time no see. :)

I'm about ready to break in my 88 somewhere in the middle of sept or after. Got set up for injections 2 times which is the first week and the second. My car's running good so I'm rarin to go do some damages at the range.

Went back to Academy this evening and the shelves were still FULLY stocked with .223/5.56. I almost cried tears of joy... :D
