ISIS / ISIL

I think there are a couple thousand Iraqi's there, but they haven't proved themselves capable of combat from what I've read. If the Iraqi's cut and run, ISIS will take the base without too much trouble, unless the other US troops, aircraft, etc. in the area can get in the fight.

If the Iraqis run, they should be shot on the spot for desertion! Might be a WONDERFUL deterrent! ;)

I suspect the USMC will bill the State Dept. for the weapons that were destroyed. :D

There were also a couple dozen armored vehicles left behind in working condition. Guess who paid for all this hardware? Probably over $1million.

Lala land must be a really nice place. I wonder if they have any vacancies?

Marie Harf (State Dept. Spox) apparently lives there and paid a visit to Chris Matthews last evening.

Here's part of the conversation via Brietbart. Videos and other reports all over the web, just google her name.

“She continued spelling out the fight against ISIS after Matthews declared “if I were ISIS, I wouldn’t be afraid right now…nothing we do right now seems to be directed at stopping this” Harf stated “I think there’s a few stages here. Right now, what we’re doing is trying to take their leaders and their fighters off the battlefield in Iraq and in Syria, that’s really where they flourish…we’re killing a lot of them and we’re going to keep killing more of them, so are the Egyptians, so are the Jordanians they’re in this fight with us. But we cannot win this war by killing them, we cannot kill our way out of this war. We need, in the longer term, medium and longer term, to go after the root causes that leads people to join these groups, whether it’s lack of opportunity for jobs…”

At this point, Matthews cut Harf off and argued “we’re not going to be able to stop that in our lifetime, or 50 lifetimes. There’s always going to be poor people, there’s always going to be poor Muslims, and as long as there are poor Muslims, the trumpet’s blowing, they’ll join. We can’t stop that, can we?”

Harf responded “we can work with countries around the world to help improve their governance, we can help them build their economies, so they can have job opportunities for these people. You’re right, there is no easy solution in the long-term to preventing and combating violent extremism, but if we can help countries work at the root causes of this, what makes these 17-year-old kids pick up an AK-47, instead of try to start a business?

That's actually one of the most accurate things I've heard Matthews spew. Perhaps even the most loyal in the media are starting admit there are issues.

So they think that being poor is the reason or cause for terrorists to cut off peoples heads and crucify people?

And all this time I thought it was their religious teachings.

And just to drive the point home how ludicrous that statement is:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bin_Laden_family
"The bin Laden family is a wealthy family intimately connected with the innermost circles of the Saudi royal family."

Supposedly worth about 50 million US dollars.

Last I heard ISIS was hiring like crazy, so I don't understand why Ms. Harf thinks we need to provide jobs over there.

Funny that such poor people can acquire such firepower and training.

The core is build from old Iraqi National Security forces from the days of Sadam but i think a lot of the recruits are poor people that see this as an opportunity to do something worthy.

The poor aspect is only a half truth.

While they dropped and ran before, these people should be underestimated. They do know how to fight and they are well connected with a constant flow of resources.

There is a better chance of getting Pelosi to say something that is actually intelligent or getting Feinstein to admit AR's are not "scary" than to get the Muslim extremists to give up fighting in order to take a job. Maybe Harf should go to Iraq with some employment applications then let us know how it worked out for her...

Harf is one dumb f-ing beach and is a supreme embarrassment to this country... Why she and all the other criminals like Holder and the lying IRS beach (name escapes me) weren't summarily fired and thrown in prison shows how corrupt this admin is.

A year ago I was saying that it was time to break out the A-10s and pound sand so far up IS' asses that you wouldn't be able to tell which is which. But Nobama delayed. Then they took Mosul. But Nobama delayed. And they took a slew of other Iraq cities. But Nobama delayed. And executed thousands of worthless Iraqi soldiers who no doubt deserved it for their cowardice. And still, Nobama delayed.

Scorched earth policy must apply with expected collateral damage--that is just how it has to be...
