Re: Lets see them 500s

Great lookin 500 rig you've got there!

Thanks for posting. How's she shoot?

Re: Lets see them 500s

That looks sweet, what do you think of the Vang Comp stuff? I love mine, and my Hogue short LOP too! I can see the powder residue around the porting, so... How does it shoot!? :D

Welcome to Mossberg Owners!!!

We're suppossed to shoot our guns? I thought they were for admiring and taking pictures of to post on the interwebs?? Having the barrel ported, choked and backbored was the best upgrade I have done to the shotgun, IMO. The difference in shooting before the barrel had the VCS treatment and after is like night and day! Before being worked on, I could only shoot 5 maybe 10 rounds at the most during a range session, without taking a break (my training always involves shooting OO buck and slugs). After the VCS treatment, I'm now able to easily shoot between 25 to 30 rounds during a normal range session.

SWEET! I think for me, the thing I most noticed with VCS is the reduction in muzzle climb, making it easier to stay on target, whether or not it actually reduces recoil... it at least influenced my perception of felt recoil!

I had taken some pictures at night and put them into a video of the difference between my non VCS 500 Persuader 20" and my VCS 590A1 20". Man what a difference we saw with the porting!

Just picked it up last week. Planning on swapping the barrel for an 18.5 inch barrel, and changing the stock and forend.

Thats a beauty! Cool thing is, you can do the changes you mentioned, and can always go back to original for a field gun!

Any ideas on the stock and forend yet?

Thanks I'll look into some of the Hogue stocks.

I figured since this is the photo gallery I should put up pics of my new 500 Anniversary Edition 12 gauge for the masses. This is my first gun and so far I love it.

I take it out to the gun club at least once a week, would go more if I could afford more ammo. So far I have put somewhere around 600 rounds through it. I completely take it apart to clean and lube it after every shoot to keep it looking new. I know it's a bit much, but look at it... I want to keep it nice and shiny. I picked it up for sport clay shooting, but have been shooting slugs at 100 yards as well just to see how I do. I want to get a rifled barrel and scope for deer season. It weighs around 8 pounds empty.

2 of my 500's now customized with their names.
BUBBA my hunting shotgun & Black Betsy my Skeet gun (Named after Shoeless Joe Jackson's Bat)

A lightly used 500 I picked up today in a combo kit. I was looking for a 500 with a longer barrel and had planned to later purchase a shorter barrel for defense/SHTF use. When I saw this in one of my local gun shops I had to have it because it was everything I wanted. I talked the gun store clerk down from 399 to 350 so I think I did good!

Here is my Mossberg 500 Persuader I recently bought. I added a few options (ATI 6 position folding stock and side saddle ,sling and mounts, sight and rail) that I wanted and am pretty happy the way it turned out. Just waiting for a light mount that will fit with the heat shield ( next week) and then I should be good to go. Sorry for the sorry pic.
