New guy from upstate NY

Hello all, a mossberg 500 was my first firearm years ago. I am getting back into mossbergs as i just ordered a 590 12ga shockwave and look forward to customizing it.
Anyone have a good amount of experience and feedback on the mvp rifle? Getting my 2 boys ages 14 and 11 into shooting and considering this rifle in maybe a .223 or .243 for my youngest
