New Mossberg 590 safety switch is VERY stiff and VERY hard to move

I have a new Mossberg 590 shotgun and the safety switch on the top of the gun is incredibly hard to move back-and-forth. After a while my thumb is in pain.

Does anyone have a suggestion on how to loosen it up?

A similar situation happened very recently to another forum member here. Here is the thread for you to read. Maybe this will help. Of course, it could be something entirely different but that glitch has happened before.

My stiff safety was caused by the spring not allowing the detent to move freely.

I think I tried it after cleaning it and I still wasn't happy with it, so I ended up clipping a coil or two of the spring until I was happy with it.

I also put one of those (gasp) tactical selectors on my gun. Not because I needed to, but I can say that I like it a lot better.
