Our Sheriff's need our support

Speaking with several friends who are LEO's with city, state and county departments with all but one exception the answers were pretty much all the same. NO. No not only because the order would be unconstitutional but for another good reason...self preservation.
"There is no way in hell you would get me to enforce some DC buttholes personal crusade against law abiding people. The fact that this issue has already stirred up alot of anti-government, anti-authority feelings, a door to door collection, shit, it would be the shot heard round the world all over again. We would have militias and groups of pissed off gun owners coming out of the wood work, and last time I checked they outnumbered the law enforcement community"

The sad part is that there are unfortunate growing pockets of very liberal communities in the state. Most centered around the two main colleges here filled with bright young progressive thinkers.

Re: NY Sheriffs Drawing a line in the sand

“We held in New York that Congress cannot compel the States to enact or enforce a federal regulatory program. Today we hold that Congress cannot circumvent that prohibition by conscripting the State’s officers directly. The Federal Government may neither issue directives requiring the States to address particular problems, nor command the States’ officers, or those of their political subdivisions, to administer or enforce a federal regulatory program. It matters not whether policymaking is involved, and no case by case weighing of the burdens or benefits is necessary; such commands are fundamentally incompatible with our constitutional system of dual sovereignty. Accordingly, the judgment of the Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit is reversed. It is so ordered.” “We held in New York that Congress cannot compel the States to enact or enforce a federal regulatory program. One of our local channels does a segment called"Reality Check". They cover many different topics and try to give both sides. Several of them lately have been about gun control laws and the 2nd Amendment. This one is about the the nation's Sheriff's saying they won't enforce any type of gun confiscations. Ol' Wolfe Blitzer probably needs to bone up on a few rulings before he accuses anyone else of doing something "illegal". Seems that the Fed Govt shot themselves in the foot by going after the AZ and NM sheriff's for enforcing federal immigration laws:

Only federal officers can enforce federal laws...
