Howdy,
This is a monthly series of questions topic for everyone to join in on the discussion. Some of the questions may have a poll, and some will not. Don't be shy now, go ahead and post an answer.

Presidential primary runs of candidates that were not mainstream and hand picked party selections (Bernie Sanders, Ted Cruz and Donald Trump) have taken the democrats and republicans by surprise. Can the parties regroup or are we seeing a fundamental change in American politics?

A fundamental change would be to throw out the 2-party system and open it up to more political parties. As it stands now, the Dems and Reps will not allow any outsiders any significant opportunity. That, and the parties are more closely aligned on thinking than they want to admit. Ross Perot tried what Trump is doing but petered out. This isn't really about what benefits the US the most but what benefits the big money in the world. The parties write and rewrite the rules to benefit whoever is their Chosen One.

If you want real fundamental change, remove ALL political donations from businesses and corporations. Allow only individuals to make small donations. Get rid of the delegates and make it strictly winner-takes-all for each state. The number of "delegate" votes would be in line with the number of representatives each state currently has. Open ALL elections to ALL political parties on equal ground. That would be fundamental change...

OA, you mentioned what are definitely fundamental changes. Do you think the people are fed up enough to force any of them into reality? How far do you think the people being fed up will go or will it just fade away and stay business as usual?

I believe we've seen purposeful division across every imaginable line. I believe people on both sides, everyone, has had it with their politicians. So I think what we're seeing is the result and people going to the fringes of their parties.

We're either going to save our country or we're going to take a huge step towards socialism. If Trump wins and later fails miserably, you can bet in four years a socialist will win. A recent poll shows 18 to 25 year olds are in favor of socialism by 58%. If they aren't shown how amazing our country is intended to be, they will vote socialist. Recent years have given us weak and tepid republicans despite what seemed like a conservative revolution growing. Instead, they are politicians in the end.

Well I've had two phone calls since I began typing this and now I'm not sure where I was going with it.

Parties have come and gone. They've changed 180 degrees too.
So anything could happen at this point.

Can the parties regroup or are we seeing a fundamental change in American politics?
The parties will probably regroup. Past elections have pretty well shown the electorate is split about 49-49. There will be some splinter parties that show up, some even w/ good candidates, but they will be unlikely to be anything but spoilers. [See Perot, 1992]. Those spoilers end up doing exactly the opposite of what their voters want. I'll bet of Perot's voters would rather have wanted the reelection of Bush 41 than Clinton. Ahh. Hindsight.

Now we are engaged in a great civil war. Essentially there is over 50% that have figured out they can vote socialist programs in and never have to learn or work again. It really doesn't work out that way of course, but they are too stupid to see that.

If you want to see some of my deep projections see the thread:

I think it is really going to depend upon the outcome of this election. A couple of the other parties are making larger inroads this year than they have in the past. But to be quite honest I don't think that the big money of the world is going to allow a big enough change, one that turns over the whole process. They have a lot of $$$ tied up in our government and how it functions and are not about to lose the control they have. Our politicians won't allow it because they benefit from big money but may make small concessions to appease the masses. It won't be enough, though.

Assuming Trump is elected, the 8 years he may be in the WH will not be enough time to undo all the damage that has been done in the last 8. However, he can create a super SCOTUS (just as the bitch can if she is elected) by virtue of at least 5 of them retiring or dying within the next 3-5 years. If we can get the SCOTUS back on track and away from the Socialist thinking that seems to be creeping into it then some fundamental change can come from them. The other side is Congress who spends more time soliciting RNC and DNC donations than they do actually working. But everyone who is elected to Congress seems to go brain dead on arrival. That is the most corrupt organization in our country and will be hard to overcome (why hasn't the RICO act been used against them?).

Enough of my early morning rambling...

As of this writing it appears as Trump will be the Republican nominee. It also appears that a lot of establishment folks will not support him, which only proves they still don't get it. Hillary will get the Democratic bid, as their party has anointed her already.

We, cannot sit idly by at this time and watch any longer. Every one needs to get out and vote, and make sure others do as well. Hillary has made no bones about how she feels about social issues and will take the country even further left. If she were to have a favorable congress as well she would try every thing she could to take away the 1st and 2nd amendments.

If Hillary wins and gets to pack the supreme court, that gives them one more avenue to use to change laws and take away our liberty and freedom. We have to vote and get any and all like minded Americans to push back the left. It is time.

The voter demographic has changed...and will be reflected in this election cycle.

Look how the younger voters...ages 18-30 have embraced Bernie...and hate Hillary ( at least those that know of her )...to get free college and other socialist promises...

Look to those of color to vote for Hillary...the "entitled" who thrive on the freebies... and KNOW that most all the handouts will cease or be cut back under a Trump in office...

Look to the middle aged women to vote for Hillary just to say they elected the 1st woman president to office... #NOT TRUMP

Look how the white middle class minority is totally pissed at the Republican Party for not doing anything but CAVING IN to Obama when they HELD both the Senate and the House

...hence you get a Reality TV Star like Trump...who will promise anything to anyone to get into office...HELL, he's more a Democrat than the Bill Clinton of the 90's was...

Look to see how the middle class will continue to pay more taxes to prop this God Damn system up until the country either...

1.) Folds up under the nearly $20 Trillion Dollar National Debt...tripled under Obama ( http://www.usdebtclock.org/ )

....OR...

2.) All the Terrorist's, Drug Cartels and Illegal Immigrants that Obama has let in bring this country to it's knees...( "Fundamentally Change America" was the promise that Muslim Bastard made...remember !? ...Only promise that SOB kept !! )

Either way...Hillary or Trump are your choices....Whatcha Gonna Do !!?? ....Sit Home and NOT VOTE...or VOTE for the lesser of two EVILS !!??

Either way...WE ARE SCREWED...!!!!

ME...?! .... I'M VOTING FOR TRUMP...

...Because I KNOW what Hillary will do...more of the same shit Obama did for the last 7 1/2 years...MORE Gun Control...MORE handouts to the lazy entitled do nothing majority...MORE OF THE SAME OLD BS !!

And this Great Country of ours CANNOT AFFORD to let THAT HAPPEN... SO...whatever you do...DON'T VOTE FOR 4 to 8 more years of Obama' Policies (#NOT HILLARY)

VOTE for any issue YOU FEEL is in YOUR interest...

ME ?!.....I'M VOTING TO KEEP THE 2ND AMENDMENT INTACT....MY GUN RIGHTS STRONG...

BECAUSE I'LL NEED MY GUNS WHEN THE SHTF !!...

/RANT

I agree w/ your voting stance. Nothing else for a shooter to do.

This is really basic for me because I don't deny to myself the fact that I'm biased.

I think Trump is a patriot. He owns guns. He's a man.
Hillary is a "world citizen". She hates guns. She's a woman.

Strike three Hillary. You're out.

The citizen propaganda network--I mean the "media"--have been having a field day with Trump and will continue to do so. They can't write this stuff as it writes itself... As mentioned, it could be a major ploy to get the "Beast-666" elected to finish the current POSPOTUS' ruination of this great country. The mindless sheeple that consume the media will see to it that that happens. Sure, many of the mindless sheeple will vote for Trump, but most will vote for the Beast/Bernie 2016. This is why I would support a minimum electoral knowledge quiz for the right to vote. Uneducated voters will be the bane of this country... :(

Anyhow, it would appear Trump is it. Am I excited? Most definitely NOT! He is even a worse "lesser of two evils" than Romney was and almost as bad as McCain/Palin was. That was the best we could do in 2008? :( All these bitches that say "I will not vote for Trump" should just STFU and go back into their closet... To hear some Republican bitch say he will vote for Hillary is just plain disgusting, and if his nuts were in proximity to my leg, I would extend my foot and give them the kicking they deserve. This will be another lesser of two evils vote, sad to say, and Trump is far less evil than the Beast.

Trump needs to become more presidential ASAP, and needs to go on an apology tour for all the stupid stuff he has said. To think that some people LIKE that about him is ridiculous--this guy will be the president, not Don Rickles... He needs to create a great deal of pandermonium, and pick his VP and staff NOW. There are still a large number of presidential dropouts that he hasn't alienated that would make a super swell cabinet! I think Dr. Carson would be a good choice for veep although I don't know if he would be crazy enough to accept. :( The WORST thing Trump could do is to select some unknown or another controversial public figure. That said, Gov. Johnson would be an interesting choice! ;)

Trump needs to say he will decriminalize marijauna. That would certainly raise a lot of positive buzz (pun intended), and increase his stature with the Bernie crowd!

This two-party system we have here sucks! That doesn't mean I want a parliamentary system--I just want more (better) choices. When one side wins, nearly half the country does NOT win and this leads to lots more division among the citizens. Although as a Libertarian, I'd like to vote for Gary Johnson, and am disappointed he does not see more media coverage, I know that a vote for Johnson will be just like a vote for the Beast... :(

Rubio wasn't viewed as a conservative by most.

I didn't think it was Rubio's "time" and was disappointed he left a US Senate seat he easily could have retained with minimal cost compared to the presidential run. Had he become the Republican nominee, I would have voted for him, and liked the fact he could pander to hispanics in their tongue. But I did not vote for him in the Primary (I voted for Cruz) and I think he has committed political suicide.

There were only 4 democrats running and most people don't even remember the names of the other two by now.
Secretary Webb did not get the distinction and recognition he deserved and would have been better served running as a Republican. He is Pro-gun, also... PS: plus he is ex-military!

I think you're right about Rubio. I don't dislike him but was disappointed in him for his role in the amnesty bill.

He would have been much better served to hold his seat and put some hours into reproving himself as the conservative he wants to be seen as.

I can't say I know enough about Webb to comment, but given what you said, he was likely railroaded out of the running. A guy like that has no place in the modern socialist/democrat party.

I'm pissed because Trump did not run in the Democratic primary. I think he could have won it, and then we wouldn't have to worry about Hitlary at the helm.

Trump says he can work the system.
Clearly he's been doing that for years.
I think his best bet as a third-party deal.

Dissatisfied Democrats won't have to vote for a Republican and dissatisfied Republicans won't have to vote for a Democrat.

They won't feel like traitors when they all vote for the new party. It'll make it easier to change bad habits.

If Donald T can draw a coalition of everyone who is ticked off with the two ruling parties (perhaps the majority of America) can he do it?

Common Sense would say no, but then Common Sense told us that Barack Obama would never be president.

I'd vote for a candidate that would appoint:
Joe Arpio as Attorney General
John Bolton as Secy State
Roy Bean to SCOTUS
My wife to Secy Trea$ury

Anyway, getting back to the ORIGINAL question, I think the Dumpocrap party will continue on as the liberal/socialist bastion it is with liberal/socialist candidates. The default party of browns and blacks that don't know any better nor care to enlighten themselves. (PS: I don't mean this in a "racist" sense but more a demographic sense) The party of Robin Hood--ie: "income inequality" (socialism). Southern blue-dog democrats are extinct.

The Republican party will be undergoing changes, especially if many of its candidates go down in flames. I hate to say this, but I think evangelists are part of the problem--religion needs to stay out of politics. Anti-choice and anti-PP makes them look like the "bad guy" against women's issues. Being anti-illegals makes them look like anti-immigrant. The media has done a good job spinning against the R party and the R party gives them plenty of ammo... :(

I want to see Trump go on an apology tour and pander his ASS off to ALL of America. I don't care if he is not telling the truth, I just want him to assure he will be elected by telling the little white lies. What do you think the Beast does every time she talks? If the sheeple believe her, why wouldn't they believe Trump?

I personally think that while the parties have been shocked and are pissed off at the difficulty of getting their anointed candidates to the nomination, we haven't yet gotten to where we will see any real change. I don't think that will come until the more people leave the parties, the independents outnumber the two parties and they can promote and elect a potus. We are getting closer though.

I think Trump is going to have a big problem with Ryan and his buddies and the GOP is really split.

Now we have the Tea Party, The GOP, and the Trump party. Effectively it has split in 3 except that Trump is bringing in a lot of un-republican people that the GOP never could; and, I guess there's a lot of tea party overlap.

Things need to coagulate for Trump and the GOP. Everybody needs to hate Hillary enough to become strange bedfellows.

And maybe Donald needs the endorsement of the Mexican president . . . .

He can be bought off. Trump needs to put up a plan that will be profitable for him and that he can sell to the Mexican people.

Remember that in politics money can buy you love.
