Removing a magazine spring

On a 500 you first must remove the barrel by moving the action to half cocked and unscrewing the barrel nut.
Once the barrel is remove easiest way is to sit in a chair and hold the gun receiver between your knees. Then grab the forward end of the magazine tube with both hands and turn the tube counterclockwise. Once it starts to turn be careful as you unscrew it because its under spring tension and you don't want to damage the aluminum follower.
If unable to get it to move the mag tube may have Loctite on the threads. Using a heat gun and carefully heat the receiver were the mag tube is screwed in to soften the sealer. Not to much heat!
Don't use tools on the tube. It's thin metal and damaged easily. Good luck.
