Rimfire Rifle Pics and Discussion (non-Mossberg)

Re: gsg-5 1st anniversary edition

well i ran across this picture of a gsg-5sd. The forend is a little different than my regular gsg-5 but i like that they stuck the rail and magpul afg on it... I may have just figured out what i'm going to do with my extra afg...

Re: gsg-5 1st anniversary edition

Let me know if you run into any trouble swapping out to an SD type forend.

Re: gsg-5 1st anniversary edition

I am going to stick to the same forend I have now just I need to figure out a way to mount a rail for the afg.

Re: gsg-5 1st anniversary edition

Okay so here comes a little write up for a magpul afg with a mossberg rail mounted to a gsg-5 forend... sounds like i got all the bases covered!

I got the part in today and the afg fit lengthwise perfectly on the 500 top reciever rail so i got one.

The screws probably would have been long enough but i wanted to put lock and flat washers on and a little blue locktite. I lined up the rail where i wanted it and clamped it down so i could drill holes. i used a bit that was a little loose in my flat washer. The bolts that i used were from home depot number 4-.7 -10mm they fit perfectly inside the recessed holes of the rail.

After ensuring each screw was tight i put the forearm back on the gun. looks pretty good!

Here is a far away picture of the finished gun.

and a closeup...

all in all this took longer to find the washers in home depot than to put it all together when i got home.
and just to be on the safe side i called ATI to find out how much a new forearm would be if i messed this one up and it only would be 15 bucks. but i'm happy with the results.
I also added a ncstar red dot to cowitness with the iron sites. it looks pretty cool staring down and seeing a little red dot with the iron sights.

thanks for checking out my thread.

Re: gsg-5 1st anniversary edition

You did a good job adding the rail

Re: gsg-5 1st anniversary edition

That came out great!

Re: gsg-5 1st anniversary edition

Well the last thing for this rifle was going to be the 110 round drum. Well it's coming sooner than expected. Cdnn got a few in and it was 79.00 plus 9.99 shipping. These things are sold out everywhere and usually go for $99.00 plus shipping! Tosha may kill me becasue i was supposed to be buying my suit for the wedding... guess my suit just got $100 cheaper.

anyone wearing a 43Regular suit... haha I may need to borrow it ;)

Re: gsg-5 1st anniversary edition

You made the right decision.

But she may not be as understanding as we are, so it may be better if you just keep all this between us.

Besides, renting a suit is less expensive and 10 years from now if you two decide to renew your vows, neither of you will be able to fit in them again anyway.

Re: gsg-5 1st anniversary edition

Well we took the drum out to the range and i was disapointed in it. they had a big problem with these about a year ago being wound to tightly and i was told that this one had the fix. Well the issue is that once a bullet is chambered the spring tension will pop the next round up and dent the case. the drum didn't work good so i took it apart and put a little less winding on the spring so we will see the next time if it messes up. But i tell you what the regular 22 round magazines fed great! I had a blast shooting the GSG-5 but Tosha actually shot it more than I did. Here are a few more pictures and one of tosha's targets!

We don't even drink coffee...

Here is what the dented round looks like... this is after sticking the magazine in the gun chambering a round and then dropping the magazine out

thanks! I really like the mods also. the Magpul AFG makes it super comfy to hold. and the red dot co-witness works great.

the guys at the gunshop freaked out when i pulled it and the Yugo sks out... they were like you can't have that can here and you can't shoot steel ammo out of that sks. and i was all like it's a fake can and i have brass ammo for the sks... they checked everything out really well and said i was okay to shoot both. then it turned into a "wow man those are really cool"! lol

I know the one on the GSG is a fake silencer that only acts as a barrel extension to bring the barrel and overall length above the legal limit so you don't need an SBR tax stamp, but even if it were a real silencer, why can't you have a can there?

Re: gsg-5 1st anniversary edition

on mine it is not an extension, it is just a shroud that goes over the barrel. when you unthread the fake can the full barrel is still atached to the gun, i'll take a picture later and post it up tomorrow. I'm not sure why they were freaking out. they were young guys... maybe it's something in their rules. i'll have to look into it now.

Re: gsg-5 1st anniversary edition

It's no big deal. I was just wondering because silencers are OK in Ok :)

If silencers weren't allowed at a range, I would have to change ranges.
