Looks like the purple people beaters are at it again. Saw this when I was going home from work yesterday (sorry for the cell phone pics). A crowd had gathered on the sidewalk beside an Exxon gas station protesting. SEIU purpleshirts were scattered throughout the crowd, stirring things up.

After a little digging found this gem about SEIU protests in Los Angeles.

"We want Exxon to know that one week of profits could help thousands of Los Angelenos. That their money could create more than 2000 green jobs, save childcare for 30,000 Californian children and save the jobs of thousands of teachers by paying off the entire L.A. Unified School District Deficit," said Li Ping Ma, SEIU ULTCW member.

Couldn't find anything specifically about this protest in Pittsburgh in the news, but looks like this is the same thing. Same tired leftist rhetoric:

Just one day of Exxon’s profits is more than enough to cover the governor’s proposed cuts to all 43 school districts in Alleghney County for this entire budget year.

So what is it that cause them to think the oil company should have to give up a day or weeks worth of sales to fund something else? I totally dont get it. How does one think they, a group, or entity is owed or entitled anything by or from another entity?

Classic socialism and class warfare. "This company makes too much, so they owe the rest of us who arent able to make that much money. Lets take their stuff and hand it out to bring everyone up to the same level so we all have the same opportunity for success." Nevermind if it destroys ambition drive and desire, individualism creativity and invention. It leads to laziness and complacency.

I think they should be charged with treason, then maybe summarily shot. Then hanged. Then killed.

I'm sure a lot of the followers of this kind of thinking are idealistic, but I'd wager that the leaders know for damn sure what the truth is, and they are fine with it. They want to destroy the current economic system, the consequences be damned.

Anyone know "Who is John Galt?"
They all need to read Ayn Rand's "Atlas Shrugged".
(If they can read and understand the english language!)

I'm convinced that the socialists in power think Atlas Shrugged is a textbook for good government.

I'm a firm believer that most of these folks are just standing in line to protest whatever hot-button issue is trendy at the moment. It gives them something to believe in, something to do, and a way to be a part of something. I'd really like to see any one of them in a one-on-one debate with someone that knows what they're talkin about.

That would be a rather one-sided debate!
