I was so intrigued by this idea of 1 3/4 shells (and increased 12+1 capacity in a 590 without sidesaddle), that I bought the OPSol2 ($15) and a few boxes of the Federal short shells. The ballistics are pretty impressive, with the tradeoff coming at the expense of pellet count. Haven't had any trouble with the adapter at all.
At my age, my 590 is basically a dedicated home defense weapon, so the max expected range is across the yard or down the alley. An extra bonus is that my wife now knows that the kick is manageable (A limbsaver didn't impress her with full 2 3/4" loads.
So, I'm just a BB, maybe this topic has gotten play, but I haven't seen it. What do y'all think of shortshells in the 590 and the OpSol?
