They cannot conceal like a handgun
They are not maneuverable in a tunnel or confined space like a handgun.
They cannot deliver quick repeat shots like a carbine at 100 meters
They cannot reliably reach out and touch somebody at several hundred meters.
They cannot slit a sentry's throat like a Kabar.
They cannot penetrate cover or body armor like an AK.
