Slip ring

ScottyB

.270 WIN
I took my 930 apart to clean/good around with it. After I was through I went to put the barrel back on and could not get it on. It usually requires some muscle to get it on so I gave it some, still didn't budge. I looked into where the gas ports are inside the part that slips over the magazine tube and noticed a small metal ring had been displaced. I took it out and looked at it. Very small gauge wire in the form of a circle which I assume plays a small, and probably insignificant role in the gas retention. Anyhow, I felt around in there and came to the conclusion that it fit inside just past the gas ports, I guess I was right because the barrel fit on properly then. Crisis averted.
I'm posting this wondering if anyone else has had this "problem" as well as a guide for anyone else who ever finds themself in this predicament.
