Just picked up this older Mossberg 500 for a Gunsmithing school project shotgun, got it for $100. and got the barrel shown in the picture for $80. But when about to disassemble the bolt I noticed something that I haven't seen before. The bolt has no firing pin spring and looks strange to what I used to own in the past.
Now I have just read of an old rocker type firing pin, that doesn't use a spring. Even the bolt lock looks different.
It shows a 500AB 12 gauge marking on the (see pic). The Serial number is G22xxxx which by the list it's a 1973 model.
So is this the old rocker type firing pin? Thanks for any information on this shotgun.
