Bidens Blunders

You guys werre talking about the much higher cost of Thanksgiving meals. I happened to see this in a article this morning from the Farm Bureau.

"Your Thanksgiving meal with all the fixings is expected to cost 20% more than last year as a result of painfully high inflation. That's according to a new study from the American Farm Bureau Federation, which showed that a feast for 10 with 12 menu items will cost $64.05 on average this year – up from $53.31 in 2021. Per person, that would cost about $6.50.

Farm Bureau added a reminder that pricing can differ significantly depending on the region. While the Northeast and Midwest had average prices similar to the national one — $64.02 and $64.26, respectively — a meal out in the West was $71.37 while the same food in the South was a mere $58.42."

****** And remember this is only a one year increase. We've seen many things which are 30 to 50 percent high than before the 2020 Presidential election! ******

I'm not sure whether to use the laughing or crying like button on your post Ernst. Leaning towards the crying one.

John, I think we're all crying a little these days. My off road diesel is currently running 3 times higher than I was paying in 2020. Plus select packaged products in our grocery store, example mayo, is around 2.5 times higher plus the size of many products have also decreased. The old quart is now 28 oz or less.

Living on a fixed income we only buy the bare minimum and always watch for things on sale.

While we all have many things to be thankful for, daily life has certainly got tougher over the past two years.

Regards

It really amuses me that we never did find enough poor people here to give away all those Obama-phones. They were still trying to give the damn things away in Fresno last summer.

Fresno county has one of the highest percentages of uneducated illegals in the nation.

I wonder how many people actually believe that all of that stuff and programs are free. I There is a lot of stupid going around these days , along with the you owe me thinking.

In one of the "local" FB groups I comment in, someone showed a pic of themselves charging their EV at a small, largely unused, "convention" center the city built at great cost to the taxpayers. I asked if there were coin or bill slots on the charging stations knowing the answer was "no". ;) This led into a discussion about who was paying for the "free" charge the OP was getting. OK, so it was NOT the city but the power company supplying the stations and electricity, so it WAS free according to an unenlightened commenter. I had to chime in and note that I paid $37.23 in "taxes" (about 17%) on my most recent electric bill so the EV charge was most certainly NOT free!

Bobster, the other thing that many folks forget is that in most states the building and maintenance of roads is paid for from the tax on fuel, both gasoline and diesel. The EV and also the bicycle crowd pay nothing for their road use today.

And as states mandate more and more EVs where is the money going to come from to maintain the infrastructure? They may get a dual wake up call down the road when they are taxed on their EV vehicles by the mile of use and when they need to replace their batteries which now cost more that the blue book value of their car. The other thing that people don't realize is the disposal cost of these batteries which one way or the other the EV owner will pay.

Then we have the electric grid that can't even support air conditioning demand on a hot summer day.

I totally agree, Ernst! Here in FL, the state has their fuel tax as does each county. County taxes can vary, so it is not uncommon for people to fuel in neighboring counties to save a few bucks.

PS: Although a libertarian, I am socialistic in that roads (and infrastructure) are best paid for by ALL the collective users of those roads. Whether frequent or infrequent. This happens through our property taxes. I also agree with a "use" tax in addition to that for heavier users and fuel taxes are one way of doing it.

Regarding EVs, I think their benefit is overblown and seen as a panacea, which they are most definitely NOT. Personally, I travel around 100mi a week back and forth to my shop so I COULD utilize an EV. I would only have to charge it once a week, and my breaker panel/elec. service is right next to the driveway so a home charger would not be an issue. The main reason is that I can't afford one at this time. :( Another reason is that I despise all the "driver aids" and other shit they cram into them. This IMO, only enables the lack of involvement and lack of skill with many drivers today... :( I prefer more driver involvement and is why I drive a stick shift (6MT) car. :)

I prefer the level of involvement where you have to actually build the car yourself. I’ve come up with the scheme where you sign up with a credit card and we send you one part per month. We charge you for that part and you put the car together yourself.

90% of the people will not complete the cars and thus will have a whole bunch of used parts to sell. Parts which they will end up stocking in their own house until they wind up at the local swap meets. This means that I won’t have to have a dealer parts distribution network. Everything will be up on eBay and Amazon.

With so many laid-off engineers in the country now I shouldn’t have any problem assembling a work force. The big problem is that I need a famous face for the company to market under.

“Trumpmobile!”

I remember back 22 or 23 years ago I was living in a small town about 20 miles southeast of Omaha across the Missouri River, in Iowa. The state and Feds had been trying to get people to conserve fuel to cut down on pollution. People conserved so well they had to raise taxes on fuel to maintain roads. The government of course did and does not care . They only care when something might hurt their chances of getting reelected.

Sam Brinton, one of the first “openly genderfluid individuals in federal government leadership,” was charged with felony theft last month after allegedly stealing a woman’s luggage at MSP Airport.

The MIT grad announced his new role as the deputy assistant secretary of the Office of Spent Fuel and Waste Disposition in the U.S. Department of Energy.

Brinton discussed his “pup play” fetish in a 2016 Metro Weekly article, The Pulse reports.

“One of the hardest things about being a handler is that I’ve honestly had people ask, ‘Wait, you have sex with animals?’” Brinton said. “They believe it’s abusive, that it’s taking advantage of someone who may not be acting up to a level of human responsibility … The other misperception is that I have some really messed up background, like, did I have some horrible childhood trauma that made me like to have sex with animals?”

The charges

Law enforcement at the Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP) International Airport were alerted to a missing suitcase in the baggage claim area on Sept. 16. The adult female victim said she flew into MSP on a Delta flight from New Orleans and went to retrieve her checked bag at carousel seven.

Airport records confirmed the navy blue Vera Bradley roller bag arrived at 4:40 p.m. but was missing from the carousel. So law enforcement reviewed video surveillance footage from the baggage claim area and observed Brinton removing a navy blue roller bag from carousel seven, according to a criminal complaint.

The complaint says Brinton removed a luggage tag from the bag, placed it into a handbag he was carrying, and “then left the area at a quick pace.” Brinton arrived at MSP Airport around 4:27 p.m. on an American Airlines flight from Washington, D.C., but did not check a bag, meaning he had no reason to visit baggage claim, according to the complaint.

I'll bet if they search this demented sexual deviant's house, they will find a lot of other stolen goods like Gucci, Micheal Kors, Louis Vuitton, Dolce & Gabbana handbags, etc... That POS freak should resign immediately!

I'd be surprised if anything comes of this. He's part of the protected class.
