Good morning

I thought it was bad here today. I went to the Walmart grocery here.

$20 for a nice corned beef brisket. Blarney Stone.

$9.06 for a medium size pork loin fillet pre-marinated by Farmer John.

$4.48 for Oroweat German Schwarzwalder. It has been about that price for a long time though.

$4.97 for a pound of Danish Creamery butter. I quit buying Land-O-Lakes since they took the little Indian girl off the package.

$4.76 for Arm & Hammer washing soda which used to be about $2.95 pre-covid

$3.94 for a pack of fig newtons but those packages have shrunk about 25% since pre-c prices.

$.52 for Jiffy corn muffin mix. I remember when it was $.10 But it’s up recently from $.39

$1.68 for 2 Liter of Barqs root beer up from about $.99 pre-c.

(whispered out of earshot of Cadd) "ok, let's humor grandpa by riding his bikes so he quits bugging us about it..." :D
Well some of them have gained quite a bit of weight and they were relieved I wasn’t going to humiliate them by riding the skateboards. Everybody had fun on the bicycles and they were relieved that I didn’t make them put on elbow pads and helmets and gloves.95E67055-D739-4830-8A8D-4726C4353D13.jpeg
I hope my daughter never sees that picture.

Good morning everyone. 60 yesterday, 70 today, 45 tomorrow, lol. Oh, and 40 mph wind today. It's like springtime in the fall.

Ya'll have a great day.

Yeah, we've had bipolar weather lately too.

Had snow week of Thanksgiving. This week, was warm enough that we opened the doors and windows to let the house air out some. Didn't even have to cut the heat on for about 30 hours or so, until the temp bombed back out again.

I stopped buying LOL butter too when they took the squaw off the box. I liked their salted churn butter. Now, I just get country crock churn style.

Oh, John, you can’t say the S word in California anymore! They recently had to rename Squaw Valley. Of course it was somehow the white people that complained. (Maybe it makes them feel less guilty about the trail of tears or something I don’t know…)

But clearly, Nobody ever listened to the complaints of the local Indian tribes.

The other thing I find amusing is that they will never say on the news “local Indian tribes.” They will say something like “indigenous local communities”.

But that fancy new resort hotel up the hill at Chuckchanci? No one has ever referred to it as an indigenous local community casino.

I wish people would take a deep breath and start concentrating on the things that really matter, instead of trying to make themselves look progressive and modern and caring (when all they really do care about is how they look on TV.)

By the way, I wish our local savemart grocery store would quit screwing around with the prices like some criminal mastermind. It’s not like we don’t understand what they’re doing.

They put their Sunnyside ice cream (which is normally $3.99) next to the Tillamook ice cream (which is normally $4.99.)

But then they don’t want fair competition so they marked their house brand (Sunnyside) ice cream Down to $2.99 and they mark the Tillamook ice cream up to $6.99.

Anyhow I went to the Walmart 1/2 mile farther & bought Tillamook there for $4.49.

Actually, Sunnyside select ice cream is almost as good. And the price was good, but I didn’t feel good about shopping there. Like they were trying to take me for a fool with their little games.

Somewhere around here I have a little "gag" side off the box of the squaw kneeling with the LoL in front of her bosoms. The butter is a flap and made so if you lift it up, it will show her bare breasts! :D The "breasts" are actually her knees from the other side of the box. Woke corporations taking all the fun out things...

Good morning Mossberg Owners.

I didn’t get a whole lot done yesterday. I was feeling kind of funky but finally about 9 o’clock at night I went out to work on my bicycle.

I had put on the new chrome forks and I had to trim the stem off to fit, but my tubing cutter was all wonky. The new cutter wheel not fit tightly, and I had to find a tiny shim washer and file the aluminum, until everything fit tight and the cutter did not wobble.

I had tried to cut one piece of tubing with the wobbly cutter and all I did was make a continuous thread as it traveled down the pipe.

But it works great now and all that took was a little patience.

All the turkey gravy was gone Sunday and yesterday we finished off the hambone and pea soup, so Thanksgiving is officially and completely over.

Evening fellas, was snowing here last night. So you know what my day consisted of right??? Well you'd be wrong! LOL! Thanks to a new Honda Snowthrower!! Best thing since sliced bread I think!

The snow was that ugly, heavy wet muck...terrible for shovelling. Terrible for the back too. Can't believe I waited 25 years to buy one! Did our place and three of the neighbor's places in less time than it would take me to shovel my own.

Made $50 bucks too! LOL! I'm giving the 50 back to our elderly neighbors in a Christmas card. My 87 year old neighbor across the street would never let me help him shovel his place...until today! LOL!!! He was all grins and kicking himself at the same time...we had a good chuckle. I told him I was gonna buy one last winter...I told him, "That's it I'm done shovelling this crap!" He didn't believe me...now he does! LOL!!

CMC, could you enlightening me as to which model you bought. I've been looking at at them and some models have regular wheel & tires while others have tracks.

Any thoughts on the differences with regard to preformance? Interested in what model you choose and by your writeup you really liked it.

Any fearture you didn't care for?

Regards

I got the HS720 it's close to if not the smallest model they had. The wheels are a bit small I think but it's definitely made for clearing concrete or asphalt. Def not an off pavement model at all.

The heavy rubber auger does a nice job of cleaning right down to bare pavement. I like that its got a manual choke & fuel switch...dead simple and easy to troubleshoot. Also, they put a nice little trap door on top of the housing for easy access to the spark plug. Typical Honda, easy to start and the pull on the starter is lighter than I expected. Controls for the chute are also straight forward and simple. It's pretty much a no-brainer to operate.

I would be looking for a larger (likely tracked) 2 stage snow blower for our cabin, this one would not be suitable at all. Not only for the fact that the auger contacts the ground but it would need more vertical clearance to bite into deeper snow. But that's the difference between a snow thrower and snow blower. I was actually surprised at the amount of grunt this little guy had while I slowly chewed into 10-12 inches of slushy crap plowed up from the road. Had to go slow in that stuff but it did it. Removing 4-5 inches of heavy, wet snow from a driveway...no sweat. Threw that stuff easily 20-30 ft at up to 10-12 ft in the air.

This is a stock photo. The controls on mine are identical. Honestly, I don't understand the small wheels...larger wheels just make things so much easier. I won't even buy a lawn mower that doesn't come with large rear wheels. they're so much better if you have to negotiate any uneven ground or stairs.

CMC, thanks for the great overview. I agree Honda and Husqvarna make good equipment. I looked at a Husqvarna model yesterday at our local farm & feed store. Given my terrain I'm looking at a track drive but I'm sure the engines and controls are about the same across the models.

I like the simple controls and simple engines that we can still maintain vice having to have someone hook up a computer to tell them what's wrong.

Thanks again!

Good Morning, Mossies.

I am begging for a video. Please. Just 30 seconds would satisfy me. :)

Good morning Mossberg Owners.

I was trying to decide if I was gonna ride the bike but it looks like it might actually rain today. We certainly need it because my trees have suffered from the lack of rain.

So far though, just an unsatisfying drizzle, & it continues to get colder and gloomier..

I’ve been spending all my free time in the garage working on bikes. But last night I had to move everything out of the way so I could bring Christmas down out of the attic. This gave me the opportunity to line up all the bikes and take a photograph.

They are all operational now except for this one, which still needs a little structural work and a better sissy bar. Also the seat needs to come up a lot, if a normal human being is expected to ride it.
