1873 Winchester found in forest

The story of how it got there may never be known, but a rusting 132-year-old Winchester rifle -- known in U.S. lore as "the gun that won the West" -- was recently found resting against a juniper tree in a Nevada national park.

I'll bet it's still loaded. If it is, the ammo will tell them how long it's actually been there.

Very interesting indeed.

Lots of theories floating around.

They need to take a metal detector and go around the general vicinity of where they found it to see if they can find anything else nearby that may shed some clues.

Like some bullets, belt buckles, buttons, etc.

My guess is there are probably remains nearby.

Guys don't just leave guns sitting around.

They probably will hunt around for anything else. I doubt we'll ever see any follow up on the news about it. Attention span is too short.
