Anybody else get the Rock River Arms catalog?

Just saw this the other day...



RRA: 1911 POLY

Hmmm, a polymer framed 1911? I'll bet this one's gonna take off like a lead balloon...
 
Among 1911 purists? Yeah, lead ballon.

I dunno man, I bet ya it sells!
 
It'd better be REALLY cheap.

Otherwise it's just gonna make the rest of the all metal entry level 1911s like RIA, GSG, etc. look even more appealing...
 
I don't think this was the first polymer framed 1911. Seems there was one back awhile. I will do some research.
But yeah, it will struggle to sell well.
 
Looks like Wilson Combat, Charles Daly, BUL and Kimber all have had polymer framed guns in the past, and all were hi-caps. The Kimber had the BUL frame. I read that Para made one, but have not found anything more on the it yet. Wilson is still making a 9mm poly gun.
Isn't the STI's hi-cap frame a polymer and steel/ aluminum combo?
 
Light weight, hi-cap with a classic look. I think it will sell just fine to the younger crowd/newer gun owners that got their start with other poly framed guns. I remember seeing Kimber had something in this area, but I've always wondered why there wasn't one in every manufacturers line up. The only thing I think could be an issue with a full-size poly framed 1911 is it being top heavy. IDK, any thoughts on that
 
Just an update on Remington "Platinum Service", My 1911 came back on Monday - Very impressed with the service. Gun was shipped back to me with a 2 day Thursday night. So to recap I sent it out Tuesday they sent it back on Thursday I got it on Monday - It's nice when a company exceeds your expatiations.

I once sent a Remington 700 in for repair to the NY service center. It was a .300 Win Mag and would not chamber a round. I had it back in my hands 5 days after I sent it. Remington's CS is the model that all CS centers should model themselves after.

All the research I did on the poly 1911s showed them being just as heavy as the aluminum framed 1911s and not any cheaper. That is a couple of the reasons why the early versions did not take off and the basis of my statement. Hopefully, now that years have passed and technology advanced, the price point will be there to justify buying a poly 1911 over a more traditional lightweight aluminum framed gun. It is always cool to have choices.
I agree with you, a full size would probably be top heavy.
 
Utah's "Other" firearm MFG.

One of my accounts came by the shop today and mentioned he had a fun little gun that just got cut loose.

Its one of Utah's other firearms manufacturers...

LAR Grizzly! Mine is a Mark V 50, Unfortunately, The PO had it converted to .45acp, Its all LAR goods, Which is nice, I am looking into getting it back to .50AE, They have not built this pistol since 1998 or so.

Here is what was done to the Magazine, It could have come from the MFG this way or maybe its was installed in the magazine.

You can see the spacer in the back of the mag.
Even though its been converted, I couldn't pass it up for the $$'s

Ah the myth, the legend, the LAR Grizzly!

So rarely are they photographed in the wild and you Sir having one in captivity, even more rare. What an amazing weapon! Thank you for the pics Vit, that made my day right there...

Welp... My email to LAR was fruitless, They don't even have any parts to make up a conversion kit.

So... If any of you run across any parts for this fine pistol, Please let me know, I will be on the search myself.
