I recently acquired the above referenced firearm. It has a beautiful bird's eye maple stock with a 24" barrel and an internal magazine. The S/N is 1244xxx. The 283 series, as near as I can determine, ran from 1948-1985. Does anyone out here in Mossberg land have any idea as to the date this shotgun was manufactured? I saw one link that suggested 1965. Could this stock possibly be a factory stock? Thanks in advance
