500 20 gauge 18.5 barrel

Mike, these are typically hard to find. I might suggest you contact Mossberg and inquire as to when or if they expect new ones to be available.

The other option is cutting an existing barrel to length. This might be your best bet if you can't find a replacement.

You might also check https://everygunpart.com/long-guns-kits/shotguns/pump.html

They get part kits in all the time but unfortunately they don't have any right now.

Regards

What Ernst said... Try Mossberg or Gunbroker but the barrels I've seen have been in the $100+ range. :( I paid that for an ENTIRE, 20ga, like-new GForce pump shotgun... :)

Yhea. I have the 26 inch field barrel I was hoping to just do barrel swaps with 1 gun. Might actually be easier to get another gun. Just figured I'd try 1st.

I've cut many barrels in my day. Professionally... ;) I cut square on my horz. band saw, deburr and file as necessary. Then drill, tap and remount the bead when done. I bought the tap to do this--I forget the size but it is written down somewhere. If you could find a used barrel to shorten--without rib preferably--that would be a good play.

These pics were handy and are of two H&R single-shot, break-actions. One is 28", the other is 18.5". I ended up getting an ATI stock for the shorty because it looked ganky with the short barrel and wood stocks. :) That is my 500 with 18.5 and Hogue "Tamers". I also have a new 28" barrel with chokes, rib and porting as well as an assortment of stocks I can put on for the desired mission. The H&Rs are long gone from inventory. I HAD considered making a lupara (internet example shown) out of one but I didn't want to get a $200 tax stamp for a gun I paid $50 for. Actually $100 for the pair of H&Rs at a pawn shop... :)
