590A1 SBS modification

I have a 590A1 SBS that I'd like to modify to accept a red dot. Do you think a gunsmith could machine a spot on the shotgun similar to the 940 Pro Tactical or is there not enough meat there?

Blackhorse. You should call Mossberg service on that one. Alternatively I think All M590A1’s have a drilled and tapped receiver so you can mount a rail. Not as slick as the 940 setup but will work.
