Brings back memories

I was at Sportsman Warehouse today to buy some 556 ammo for a range day on Father’s Day. There was a guy picking up a new Mossy 500. Black with a 8 shot tube. I can’t be sure but I think it was his first shotgun. The guy who worked at the store took it out of the box and presented it to the buyer to confirm it was what he ordered. I had to smile. Many years ago I was that guy at a Gander Mountain doing the exact same thing.

Certainly does bring back memories. I grew up on a ranch and could never afford a new gun of any type. But in 1972 after being in the military a few years I saved enough money to afford a new Ted Williams 200 12 gauge from Sears Roebuck. It was a Winchester 1200 simply rebranded under Ted Williams name. I was so proud of my first brand new shotgun that to this day it has never been fired and has stayed in the original case I purchased the same day. Every once in a while I take it out and remember the first day in my life I could afford a new gun!

Regards

I never bought a new gun, or even wanted to, until I was about 55. Old and functional was fine. Then I got the bug and bought several. Modest weapons to be sure, but all shiny and brand new. It was a serious treat.
