Finally Ordered The 940 Pro Tactical

Almost a year ago, exactly, I started a thread about the 940 Pro Tactical and one of the things that holding me back (forend).

I had always been a pump kind of guy but wanted to add a good semi-automatic tactical shotgun to my collection.

I had it narrowed down to the 940 Pro Tactical or the 1301.

I like Beretta but I'm really not a person that buys based on nothing but name and because of the improvements of the 940, and especially the cut out for the optic, I was leaning heavy on the 940.

The only thing holding me back was I wanted an MLOK forend and couldn't find one.

Well I found this one.

Therefore I ordered it and picking it up in a few hours.

The forend is still important to me but before I buy it I'll probably try a light/laser combo on the barrel clamp and a optic.

Any suggestions on immediate mods/accessories right ot of the gate that are a must?

Thanks

I'm starting to lean towards selling my AR-10 and getting a 940. A semi-auto shotgun for the home, for me, is likely a much better tool. I'd bought the AR-10 kind of on impulse; thinking I was going to try to get back to long-range shooting. It's more of a pipe dream now.

Pictures of the new rig would be nice when you have time. ;)

I bought a nice Ruger A10 thinking that I would enjoy shooting it more than my Savage Model 12.

So far this is not the case and I have not been able to produce handloads for the. 308 that are nearly as accurate as my .223 loads.

As for the 940, I don’t own an auto shotgun, but as much as I like my 500 cruiser, I think I’d like to have a 940, and the tac gear with it.

I've got a 940 Thunder Ranch en route, everything's ready except I haven't quite decided on the WML setup.
I've read many reports of the factory barrel clamp breaking or warping from heat over time so I'm thinking of this as a replacement despite the 5oz weight: HBI 940 Barrel Clamp
Placing the light farther forward reduces barrel shadow but necessitates use of a remote switch. Placing it farther back allows use of the light-mounted switch but increases barrel shadow.
I've got a Streamlight TLR RM2 I'm going to try first but if that doesn't work out, I might try an Inforce WMLx or the same Streamlight HL-X Pro I have on my rifles.
Decisions, decisions!...

Always decisions until you get it right. I have box full of stuff that I have tried and replaced. What I’ve learned is that simple is better especially with shotguns. Bead and buck is a pretty good combo. A WML is good as long as they are not shooting back.
