I did a little work on my savage 25 tonight

I had been watching for a decent .223 Remington rifle for a while, and I found a Savage model 25 unfired in the used rack at my local cabelas for only about $25 more than a new axis. I think I paid $343 for it.

The model 25 has a 3 sided bolt versus a 2 sided like the axis. I think it locks up tighter and it's jeweled so it's a bit smoother too.

Not many videos of this one in .223 but in 17 hornet there's a few. I got a $23 bipod on it, $10 sling, and $80 scope with $15 rings.

I have to go sight it in hopefully tomorrow in between moving stuff between my house and my parents (emptying my house so I can move into the new one)

I have no idea how it will perform, or if it will be accurate, but time will tell.

I took this gun out to 400 yds a few weeks ago.

The targets were my last 14 out of 16 shots on those shoot and see targets. You can see my previous shots on the 4ft square paper behind the targets.
With the 12x scope I could see fine, but I couldn’t see my hits. I need to work on smoother shooting and less wobbling as I reload- follow up shot took me quite a while

Once I collected all makes of the Vietnam era M7 bayonet I decided I needed a M16A1 to go with them.

Very cool, collection and display, are ya needing the rear sight parts.

New to me .22lr. This was manufactured between 1950 and 1953. It's a J.C. Higgins sold through Sears and Roebuck Co. It is in very good condition and I found it unusual. I bought it at Cabellas. maybe paid too much, $300.00, but am very happy with it. Now I will start looking for a J.C. Higgins Rifleman 4X scope to complete it.

The sling is what caught my eye. It is on a reel in the butt and attaches to a lug on the barrel. The reel works perfect as well. One of these days I'll post pictures of the rest (too many) of my .22s.

Not sure if I posted these before.

This is Reaper

This is Sleeper

These are the two full boogie 10/22 style rifles I have built for myself. I have taken pocket gophers in Montana out to 218 yards with them.

This is the one that started it all. I bought it right out of high school in 1991.

I called this one Baby Barret.

And the last one.

Basically boring at 100 to 200 see pic, at 1:10 twist it likes most flavors of pill. 400 to 800 is the sweet spot, and it will ring the 10" gong at the 1k line no problem if you do the math and hold yer mouth right. Sub moa with match ammo.
