ghost ring sights or other sights?

i want to upgrade the sights on the mossberg 500. the small bead isnt cutting it for me. i like the steel sights.

whats a good option to consider?

Assuming you aren't wanting to go with a red dot or similar optic sight you've got a few options.....
Swap out the front bead for either a fiber-optic or tritium piece -or-
Buy a new barrel that already has the steel rifle sight that you want on it -or-
Buy the Mossberg Ghost Ring sight kit or another aftermarket kit, pay someone to silver solder them on or do it yourself and then refinish the barrel. -or-
You could also look at the ATI HALO heatshield with the aluminum ghost rings attached.

Probably a few more option but hope those help!

I have on mind the same issue.I have one 18.5" barrel with bead sight. Also ,I have a Bushnell TRS-25 for this barrel. The red dot has a 1/2" high quick release mount, good to get cowitness.
I was looking for a weaver mount with the same level to mount in front of barrel.Considering I have two weaver or picattinny rails with the same height I can install two flip-up rear and front sights.,both adjustable.
On receiver I have UTG weaver mount:

I am waiting for this mount to install next to bead sight:

Finally,flip-up sights.I still have not decided the model.I am considering this:

Well the options have already been covered, very well... I would say your best option with an 18.5" would be get the OFM GRS kit and either install yourself or have someone else do it. Aimpro has an option to have them equip your shotgun with GRS but it is costly... very costly.

Selous, oh boy! :p I tried this when I had a full rail equipped.. didn't work as well as one would believe haha. That is my experience, take it or leave it. Save yourself the money for that and get some good GRS, possibly something from AIMpro if you can get a hold of them :)

Itsricmo, thanks for the advice , ;) .The barrel mount is not expensive and I can use it to mount laser or flashlight on barrel. If I buy the flip-up sights I wouldn´t like not to use them.
There is another good option:go to LPA ghost ring system. They make quality sights for different guns.
BAR11W ghost ring:

I had a Fabarm Sdass tactical with this sight and is very well made.
SG6 front sight:

There is also another front sight with lower profile (SG3)
They are not cheap but sometimes it is better to buy only one time.

Whoa! I didnt know those existed... hmm.. I have SOO many things I want to buy and just need to categorize them by priority haha. How does that front sight attach and stay put?

EDIT: I read further and saw how you add the front sight.. my bad :p

that looks like the best combo. i can get that front mount picatinny and run some folding iron sights.

thanks for the info.

thanks to other posts too

Bonus to the LPA sights is that you don't have to struggle to keep in contact with AIM-Pro.. tempting addition :p
