Good Morning!
Today was our monthly "Action Pistol" where we are "allowed" to draw from holsters and shoot steel at the "special use" range. 4th Saturday of the month from about 9am-noon. After pistols, some people leave but some will stay and break out their PCCs and the targets get moved further away. From about 30' back to 50'. Range rules normally prohibit drawing from holsters and shooting steel. Someone inexperienced drawing from a holster could have a Negligent Discharge and shooting steel improperly can lead to ricochets, both of which are unsafe.
Unfortunately, my car started misfiring as soon as I pulled out of the driveway so I turned around and pulled back in. You should NOT drive your car if the engine light is flashing because of a misfire--this can melt and clog your catalytic converters!

I hooked up my VCDS scan tool which told me what cylinder it was (#4). Codes P0300 and P0304. Pulled the cover/air cleaner off and switched the coil from #4 to #3, rechecked codes and the misfire moved along with it. (P0303). I thought of using the wife's car to go to the range but made an executive decision and instead used it to drive the 20min to my shop and pickup some used coils I had there to bring home and install. The first coil I tried was also bad

but the second worked so now I'm back on the road.

A set of new coilpacks is about $130 and I got about 4yrs out of the last set and this is the second to go bad. It is only a matter of time before the other two also fail--they do NOT last forever...
This was the first time in 2yrs I've missed Action Pistol...

About the same 15-20 of us show up and it is more of a social event than anything.

It is not super-competitive although some stages are timed. I will be at the range tomorrow where I am an RSO for
Public Day, usually on the pistol range. A couple sample stages of AP are shown below.
