Just verify that the black wire goes to the smaller of the two spades at the plug...
Well I tested the unit wired both ways, or I should say, I tested two different units each wired a different way. I didn’t find any stray voltage on the metal frames (all soldered into the ground.)
The four smaller speaker holes were made with a 2.5 inch hole saw, being the biggest one I own. The two large holes were made with my dad‘s old fly cutter and a drill press.
Dad never owned a drill press and I don’t think he ever successfully made anything with his fly cutter but I could be wrong.
The original cutter was in it, still in its original cardboard box, and it was exceptionally sharp when I got it.
Anyhow the amplifier is mounted and the holes are in. They just need a little sanding and I can mount the speakers.
This is the third time I’ve used one of these little 10w amplifiers, and it is my most ambitious speaker array so far.
Back in the 70s I built a set of 4 foot tall speaker boxes with folded horns inside.
Unlike some speakers, the horns were not tuned for the lowest possible frequency of human hearing, but tuned to the lowest frequency I could easily develop in my listening room.

I never thought of him that way. I compare him to the likes of Bush 1 and 2, Clinton, Obama, and Biden. Might as well add Reagan. Any of them had opportunities to prevent what we are going through with Iran now. That being said, I wish he would allow the military to do what he ordered them to do.
Good morning. 79 degrees at 7Am, headed for 95. We decided to go to the lake yesterday, arrived about 5:30. Last night we had thunderstorms move through between 9:00 and 10:30. Lots of rain, lightning, and wind. About 9:30 we watched a boat leave the marina and disappear into the rain. I reckon the visibility at the time was less than a half mile.
After today we are supposed to be back in triple digits. This stretch of hot weather is not unusual for us this time of year, and I don’t have to shovel it, lol.

Hey you guys. Good morning to you all. The weather here is just lovely today. Not too hot, not too windy, and the asphalt compactor that has been going over on the next street for a week is silent!
Today I get scanned to see how soon I’m gonna die. Or something like that.
While I am waiting I have some time to mess around with my guitar amplifier and I decided that it needs some sound dampening.
If you take out two screws the whole thing tips down for easy access to the guts.
It’s not a sealed cabinet and there is substantial porting on the top around the amplifier vents and the former speaker opening.
I think I should close up some of that port area but for now I just stuffed it with some loose poly fill.
Experiments will continue when I get back from the doctor.
I’ve got a couple hours to diddle around with my guitars and consider my next mod.
So here is a 60 second sound clip of me on the new amp. It is very quiet. You won’t hear the opening notes if you don’t raise the volume.
This is something I’m composing for my sister’s 70th birthday. Tomorrow is the party so I still have a bit of time to finish composing and practicing this, and record it complete.

There won’t be a report on the scan till probably Monday after they transmit it to my doctor and he has a chance to look at it and tell me how long I have to live.
Anyhow all they did was scan me for arterial buildup of calcium.
The way I have been feeling I’m pretty sure they’re going to find something that needs to be treated, and the treatment won’t be convenient or painless.

Today I actually did a little work on my car.
I had two used battery boxes without lids and I wanted them to be just battery trays, so I cut them down on the tablesaw and sanded them smooth.
I took a piece of that same plastic and I used it to make a plate which blocks off the old speaker hole in my amplifier and allows more secure mounting of the jacks and switches. I have added a second input jack, and switch to turn the new jack on and off.
I finally found my rubber feet which I was going to put on the previous amplifier. Instead I made a special hook to hang it on my wall and I put the rubber feet back on the old phonograph cabinet which is where they originally came from.
I should also put back the original handle, which is now on top of the Newcomb amplifier, so I have to switch that.

I’m just making the last measurements before I weld this thing when I figured out the bolts are still a half an inch too short.
I either have to make brackets or buy longer hold down bolts, and the two stores I went to had nothing longer than these.

Before you weld it up, I would take some shrink tube and melt it onto the crossbar just in case it ever loosens up and contacts the terminals...
