Yeah it’s turning out to be a big deal and it’s causing trouble everywhere.
But is this really a case of, “It must be a computer error! There’s nothing I can do about it here!”?

I’ve been following the WNBA fracas on the news and it is shameful. All sport is becoming a battleground of ideologies.
You can’t attack other players because you don’t agree with their opinions and practices. Yet this is allowed to go on because it makes news. WNBA is losing money in boatloads. It must be about power, then.
There was no money awarded for winning in Athens. You got the laurels.
Paying money turns sports to war.
They had war and they had sport and they knew the difference. We don’t.

Good afternoon. 104 degrees, feels like 111. We are having this every day this week. This is not unusual this time of year in these parts. Actually I don’t mind. What I do mind is 100 degrees cooler, lol. I do not miss cold weather. I have not been doing much lately, just hanging out with the dog and reading. Next week will be different. Monday, a check up at the cardiologist office, Tuesday eye dr to check for cataracts, and Thursday get my hearing aids checked. Sounds like fun, lol.

Good news
I live in the north east corner of that red dogbone, which is Fresno county California. It’s the size of Massachusetts. It is the hub of San Joaquin Valley farming.
There were so many people here that they changed the phones. I now have to dial an area code to call someone within my own county.
The south and west county were basically inhabited by America’s largest (by percentage) population of illegal Mexicans.
Were. Not so much after Trump. Perhaps he’s not making a difference where you live because things were already pretty sweet. Around here it’s a different story.
All the rich white people live in the north east part of Fresno city and county, as do I, in Clovis, but there were lots of wealthy Armenian farmers scattered across the county, with illegal Mexicans living in their barns or some junky old trailers.
Much fewer now.
Two years ago it was estimated that one person in three in Fresno county was illegal, and 50% of the county was Hispanic, with only 47% white people.
Our representation is based on that situation, and it has changed drastically.
Not so much in my neighborhood. No illegals can afford to live here. We are far off the freeways and railways.
But when I go into the city of Fresno proper, the change is obvious. If you go to a mall or a large store…Or the medical clinic where my doctor works….Or the Fresno heart and surgical hospital where they sent me to be scanned.
Lowes and Home Depot seem half deserted in the day. Even just going to the music store, parking lots have many empty spaces these days.
This all started reversing when Biden left office and Trump took over, but it has taken over 18 mos to seem real. Not just farm workers, but clearly many established managers and professionals are leaving because they were skirting the law.
Something else strange has happened. Normally when the population of a county decreases the value of housing goes down. Rentals are more available, houses are less expensive. Just the opposite has happened here and I find out the value of my property has increased.
This is true across the state & revenue from sales tax has decreased as well as revenue from auto registrations and other licenses.
Because of this the state has continually increased gasoline tax plus the tax and fees and various other things.
Now they’re trying to jack up the taxes on your house when you buy it, sell it, or it is inherited.
The citizens voted a long time ago that they could not radically increase your property tax while you lived in your own home. But those bastards in Sacramento are trying to change that too. They keep coming up with these legal amendments like, “the save your child from dogbite rabies act” which actually turns out to be a tax increase on medical treatment and drugs.
Something else I noticed, fewer Mexican cashiers at the big stores. More Black people working at the register. Not typical DEI people either. These people seem sober and able and genuinely happy to have a job here.
