Gun Appreciation Day ‘14 CAPITOL RALLIES JANUARY 19th NOON

Re: Gun Appreciation Day ‘14 CAPITOL RALLIES JANUARY 19th NO

It was cold and blustery on the capital steps today. Considering how many live within 1 1/2 hour drive of Harrisburg, turnout was not good. It was probably 1/4 of last year. We had more LEO's watching this year though.

The speakers were all very good. Some full of piss and vinegar and some more sedate. Sarah Merkle led it off. She was the 15 year old (16 now) that shredded the Maryland assembly last year and the video went viral. She was in a feature article in one of the NRA mags last summer. Great young girl there. Very humble.

We actually had a state politician tell us to take PVC and bury some guns, ammo and supplies away from out properties for future use should the need arise. He had another good point. PA just had a liberal democrat judge overturn the voter ID law because it was an added burden to a right. The question was why do we need concealed permits if gun ownership is a right.

The day was topped off with a stop at Bass Pro to warm up and I came across .22LR ammo for sale. Federal in 325 round boxes, 2 per customer and they had 10 left yet.

If I could have driven to our capitol I would've been there... but I assume that most folks up here don't got busting down the capitol in Juneau (although it probably is the most liberal city in Alaska!) for their 2A rights.

I do feel a bit helpless out here... you guys are sticking it to the man full face, and all I can do is share some facebook links and share info with neighbors and coworkers. With you at heart though! Thanks for braving the weather and cold temps to continue the fight!

we were at the same rally Mike, 300+ tops , good speakers, more cops, they were friendly and didn't check anyone for loaded weapons/conceal carry. But instead of Bass Pro we stopped at a casino and drove a back way home I hadn't seen in a while......excellent day spent with friends but the turn out was horrible, still I'll go next year

Me too. You cover Oregon and I'll cover PA! This is the second year that not one gun toting friend would go along even though they know what's going on and is coming at us. They need to crap or get off the pot.

For those on MO that couldn't make it, I suggest you use your favorite search engine and look for other opportunities to get out there. I know in PA they often have smaller regional/local rally's for 2A, support of open carry etc. You should be able to find something that works for your schedule and travel. I met some good people and saw some real characters. One guy wore a kilt with an AR on his back. Another guy wore a complete black suit/dress shoes along with a filled combat vest, Glock and AR. My boy thought for sure he was NSA spying on the rally.

Get out there guys.

Re: Gun Appreciation Day ‘14 CAPITOL RALLIES JANUARY 19th NO

fair weather patriots piss me off......no excuses. The playoff game was a huge excuse for a lot of people, but not good enough.

my day was excellent

I hung with a childhood friend and other old friends, I was disappointed about 1:30 when I realized the people there were all that was going to show, they weren't, they hadent been to the last two that I attended but they just said to me "well there would be less if we didnt show up, we are coming to the next one right".....I love those guys

then all the conceal carry folks all stood on the stairs, strapped, for a big group pic and they raffled off an XDs.

It broke up about 3:30

we stopped at 7 Feathers Casino, rolled into the bar and looked on the big screen and it was the game and the Seahawks were down. By the time we got out drinks they scored and the rest of the game was an epic turn around. We went out onto the floor and gambled.

We left and decided to go over the Umqua Divide to get home, out of the way but it goes from 900 ft at Canyonville to 6500 feet at the top and I hadent been that way in a while. We saw a bunch of nice deer. We stopped and did some night shooting on the top, got home at midnight and drove 500 miles.

So I got to hang with old friends, gamble, drink a little, eat a killer pulled pork sandwich, see the most beautiful ground in the country, see wildlife , shoot, represent the 2nd amendment, and see the only part of the game worth watching.....win/win.....
I cant believe people sat on their ass at home, but we are not all created equal.
I have been to all of them and if I lived back your way I would have went to another states rally if my state didn't have one, because all the states are small and close compared to out here and it might have been shorter drive than I did just to get to my own capitol.

I am so proud you went Mike !Had to do it on your own and I think you are awesome for doing it, a true active patriot....some , a lot, of people who tote a rifle have no clue why they have it

Thank you sir, you have earned my respect for life

I had plans on going. My body had other plans.

Nursing a neck injury which is causing my right arm to go numb. Have another doc appt this Thursday. Sucks.

I wish I could have made it. Made 3 NY rallies last year. Not much mention of the rally here in NY.

I donated to SAF, NRA, and NYRPA in my absence.

Thanks Oli. That means a lot. I will wear that like a badge of honor and right back at you.

Water Monkey, get better. I know you would have been out there too.

Dunno. That's why I'm going back. Initial treatment was 800mg ibuprofen and muscle relaxer at night. 3 weeks and little improvement.

I'm not leaving without an X-ray and an appt for an MRI.

Good man.

The doctors screwed me around with muscle relaxers and physical therapy for six months before a neurologist ordered an MRI. Turned out I had a crushed vertebrae and the previous six months did nothing but make it worse. Finding out EXACTLY what's causing your issue early on can make a huge difference in getting you back to 100%. Keep us posted brother...
