Has anyone tried a 940 barrel in a 930 receiver?

Chadie

.270 WIN
Does it work? Does the gas system fit? Does it cycle without blowing up?
Other questions include:
Did it bring peace between the owners and customer service?
Did it herald the redneck redemption? (The perfect scattergun built from parts. Mostly Mossberg, some Remington and brazing rod because Duct tape is not heat resistant!) NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH THE FUDD FORTHCOMING! The perfect single shot 28" that lives in imagination of every self appointed range judge who starts a conversation with "you know what you need is..."

Unless Mossberg lists the barrels as compatible, I'm going to speculate that they are not. The 940 has an "improved" gas system which may have resulted in different gas components and porting.

If my memory is correct the 940 has a completely redesigned gas system and isn't compatible with a 930.

But a phone call to Mossberg would certainly verify this.

I always seem to get the representative that is indifferent and does not want to give any information

I think Mossberg is making minor changes to the dimensions but not changing the overall tooling. I was just able to compare the 930 and 940 shell lifters. the only difference I can see that is different is the Hammer pivot pin notch is smaller. Measurements and pics to follow... maybe.
