Maverick 88 Pump Action Stock Options

Does anyone know of a good side folding stock for a maverick 88 20 gauge? preferable an adjustable one. Also are the stocks interchangeable with the mossberg 500 20 ga?

Re: side folding stock for 20 ga?

I would just about be willing to bet that any stock meant for Mossberg 500's and/or Mavericks will fit on the 20 gauge Maverick models. I'd also be willing to bet that anything that fits an Ithaca will not fit a Maverick.

This is one such example: http://www.combathunting.com/MAVERICK_8 ... Stock.html

See the Note? : "Note: Some Modification May Be Required On (Included Adapters) To Fit Some 20 Gauge Shotgun Models."

Take care. Tom Worthington.

Re: side folding stock for 20 ga?

I'm not familiar with the Maverick 88, but just about any stock made for a 12G 500 will fit a 20G 500. The 20G does have a slightly slimmer receiver and there will be a bit of overhang but it can easily be tapered with a little sandpaper.

Stocks/Interference W/ Action Lock Lever

Hello!

I just recently purchased my second Maverick 88 and was wondering if anyone has experience with the ATI side folding stock, the ATI top folding stock, and the UAG collapsible stock. I was wondering because what I've seen is the action lock lever (ALL) looks like it may be hindered by the UAG collapsible stock. Any information would be greatly appreciate.

Thanks,
Matt

Matt, I haven't tried those particular stock options (I just realized that sounds like a pun) on my Maverick. However, I have used the ATI Talon pistol grip. That one has absolutely no problem clearing the action lock. Don't know if that is much help. Take care. Tom Worthington

Re: Stocks/Interference W/ Action Lock Lever

Thanks for the response man. I was more interested in a full stock, I had a pistol grip on my last Maverick and I wasn't that big of a fan. However, I did not have a Talon...

My thumb couldn't tolerate the hard plastic pistol grip that came with my Maverick. The Talon is like night and day. Doesn't improve the accuracy any :D , but it sure is easy on my hand. Take care. Tom Worthington.

Stock Advice

My current Mav88 has been wearing a Hogue 12" LOP for years now and I think it's time for a change. In addition to some other mods I have planned, I need a new stock. I like the Hogue stock but 12" is just a hair bit short for me.

I am considering the adjustable stock primarily for its ability to adjust LOP on the fly, and to give me a bit more "aggressive" look without going overboard.

I'm considering the following;

Hogue 13" LOP from AimPro. http://goo.gl/mEuUM

ATI collapsible M4 style. (The older style one not the new razor one) http://goo.gl/vMy5O

Anyone with experience with either of these have comments that may be helpful in deciding?

Re: Stock Advice

Well if you like the Monte Carlo style of the stock I have seen many great reviews for the BLACKHAWK!!!!! Comp-stock!
Other than that, ATI has come out with the Akita Stocks (if your budget is slightly larger than mine haha)

As for an Adjustable stock, I can only personally recommend the MESA Tactical LEO adapter. AMAZING product and works great!
I can say that ATI products receive great views from various members here on MO. I have played with one numerous times at my friends. They are really nice but I have never shot one.

Re: Stock Advice

+1 for the ATI Akita stock.

It's a great middle ground for a more classic style (non-PG) stock with an adjustable LOP...

Re: Stock Advice

I haven't seen it sold alone though. I can only find it with the forend and that makes it over $100... :/

Re: Stock Advice

The Mesa stuff is out of my price range since it's sold in pieces and not as an all inclusive unit.

The Akita is also out as if I was inclined to go straight stock, I'd buy the hogue which I know I like, in the proper length to fit me.

The Knoxx/SpecOps stuff I'll stay away from after reading some reviews and handling one in the local LGS.

My budget is ~$75, hence the choices. They're inexpensive enough to be able to get them, when you include shipping charges from the various sources.

Re: Stock Advice

Roger that, Budget! I know how you feel! BELIEVE ME!!
I just sold a "kit" in pieces of a MESA LEO lol... but everything brought me $300 total :p
It isn't a cheap thing to customize you shotgun!!

For $75:

Save up and get this $85

Again, maybe save up a little and go for this one? Our forum owner here has given this one a great review!

Solid and sound, like I said many great reviews by MO Members:

This one has some good reviews and some bad but is a middle ground option:

This one is a solid, non recoil reducing stock from Blackhawk, good price and is collapsible:

These all have better prices at Cheaperthandirt, I just grabbed the first one I found online. A little digging can get you most of these for around $50 - $65.

Re: Stock Advice

The second one from CTD is one of the ones I linked to earlier that I'm considering. I'm not buying a "kit" with fore arm at the moment because the shotgun is a Mav88 with pinned bars. I haven't bought a replacement tube, so no need to get a fore arm at the moment.

Re: Stock Advice

My bad, I apologize! I overlooked that. It is in fact the same one and I understand on the Mav88 issue.

There are cheaper prices to be had for all as I had stated. CTD has that one for as low as $48 the last time I checked. Do realize that shipping can sometimes be outrageous with CTD... They haven't gotten the concept that a small package requires a smaller shipping box, not more packing bubbles or paper.

There are different models of the ATI stocks I believe and even more so there is an Aluminum Upgrade package available just as well, better recoil reduction options!

EDIT:

Cheapest @ CTD $56+s&h
http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/product/9-59591

Recoil Reduction $18+s&h
http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/product/2-ADVA5102301

Aluminum Upgrade $32+s&h
http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/product/76469

Even though that says for 10/22 I believe all the upgrades fit everything except the AR15 platform stocks. It is commercial in diameter and I would contact ATI before definitely purchasing it!

Re: Stock Advice

Parts ordered. Will post pics when it's all assembled. Thanks to everyone for their opinions and advice.

Re: Stock Advice

I got the ATI collapsible M4 style stock with the scorpion butt pad piece, a Tacstar 6 round side saddle some pachmyer pacskin grip tape for the forearm and an L&M light mount, mounts to the mag tube and holds the light roughly parallel to the barrel.

I already have a spare polytac light for it. I may or may not get the 5 shell holder for the stock in a couple weeks. I want assemble everything and go shoot it and see how it goes to see if I feel the weight is worth it or not.

Re: Stock Advice

Can't wait to see pictures! Assuming you WILL be posting some, right? :)
haha I am really thinking about buying that side saddle to attached to the stock!
